  • its amazing its just like a new sofware to me

  • so have Logitech updated the software yet by today? Cuz im going to buy the MX Revolution tomorrow n my shipped SnowLeopard will arrive in a few days.

  • The features of 10.6 couldnt have been part of 10.7 because then what would they do for 10.6? what makes more sence is they should have just kept on working on 10.6 for a few months, and then they could have released it late this year or early next year.

  • Maybe they wanted 10.6 to come out earlier to "combat" windows 7

  • Considering the speed boost, stability and refactoring the OS - I think it's worth the £29.

It's made my experience of Leopard better. I loved Leopard. Now thanks to Snow Leopard - I love it even more.

  • my shutdowns are exactly the same - I feel like suing Apple for this shit!!! They ripped us off!

  • yes yes sue them for 30 bucks

  • I wish I could!

  • Spaces was actullay in XP as a powertoy.

  • after the release of leopard apple have said that the next OS will be made to improve the the compatibility with intel processors and be a base for apple's next generation OS

  • The thing I don't like is the GUI, why was it so hard to make the marble ui the default, now we have 5 different looking windows/ menus in 1 os, QuickTime x, iTunes, Dock menu and finder all look different from each other, why can't apple pick one and stay with it (preferably the dock menu ui imo)

  • Do you guys remember the preview for Leopard along time ago where they had a 3d screensaver made out of animation from all your cd album covers....whatever happened to that, is that available in Leopard?

  • I dont understand why freeing hard drive space is important, are people running their computers on 40g? I have 500G could care less if the operating system takes 20g like vista.

  • you should change your mic or use the one with your mac, I can barely hear you.

  • How long have u had that hat?

  • Download USB Overdrive for your mouse. Its actually better than the logitech software. Its free, but you can pay for it to help out the developer. I've been using it with my MX1100 and it works great :)

  • Logitech Control Center 2.7.0 (302) works just fine in Snow Leopard. My Logitech MX 1100 continued to work as it had in Leopard - the only thing I needed to reset was setting my scroll wheel button back to run Spaces (and it couldn't do that directly - I had to tell it to hit an F8 "keystroke".

  • the issue here is that i managed to install it, but my mouse is one of the new mice, the new version of the mx revolution and some of the buttons dont work, i cant tell if its a hardware issue or software so i will just have to wait and see, ive emailed logitech anyway, they sent me the mouse to review, so ye, jus have to wait

  • Oh ok, I thought you said in the video that you were using the MX Revolution, not the new Performance MX. (Nice mouse, by the way - I think that's the mouse that I have - it comes standard with the Cordless Wave Pro keyboard/mouse combo.

Mine also has the mini-USB in the front, so I can plug it in and use it while it's recharging. The only thing mine doesn't have is that cool tiny USB dongle for the wireless functionality.

    Great reviews!

  • yep i know, sorry bout that, but i was keeping it as a surprise, i just uploaded the video of the unboxing of it, check it out if u want to ! thanks for commenting back !

  • Yep, I did see it already, that's how I knew your new mouse was similar to mine :)

Like I said, great reviews! You're always pretty current with the latest stuff, that's why I subbed a long time ago.

    Thanks again!

  • Do you know where I can download that version of the LCC?

  • I havent got snow leopard but i am very happy with the idea of it mainly being tune ups and also adding the new under the hood technologies. id rather they optimised their current system before building on top of legacy software

Quicktime X is enough for me to justify the £25 price (compared to screen flow prices) because i want to start making videos using this once i get SL.

as i always say, if SL is a service pack so is Win7, because they do about the same as an upgrade goes

  • This is a stepping stone. Their putting things into play for 10.7

  • I agree with you. Service pack? From one point I can see where people are getting this from. But I think due to the fact that it is all major performance refinements, it wasn't able to be done over the air as an update.

  • really enjoyed ur podcast, looking forward to your secret unbox

  • I'm fine with Snow Leopard but I agree that many of the changes could have included in a software update and the technology should have been in 10.7. I think apple just didn't want to interrupt their schedule of presenting a new version every other year.

  • thx.

  • did apple say that the shut downs would be faster? they are so slow for me.. the bootups are alright but the shut downs take like 1min+ with leopard my shut downs used to be less that 15secs

  • 15 with leopard is suck to. mine shuts done in 5 sec.

  • Boot up/Things will be slower first because Leopard has been caching whilst Snow Leopard just started its caching

  • For those who think that Snow Leopard doesn't have enough features, should of been an update and you shouldn't of paid, Apple knows that, that's why it's so cheap. For that price you are getting totally new technology that is in no other operating system as of now, £25 for that is a excellent price in my personal opinion.

  • For some reason the volume seems lower than usual.

  • Yeah i was gonna say

  • in order to configure the buttons on the logitech mouse you need to download the control center from logitech but do a manual install. Right click to show package contents on the logitech installer then click contents----resources----and double click the logitech control center.mpkg....and it will go through the install... this is for 10.6 Snow Leopard

  • How did you do a fresh install of Snow Leopard?

  • @Kev - You just have to put your Leopard disc in and do a fresh install, then upgrade from there.

  • Use disc utility to wipe your drive first then install as per nomal. Oh and for the love of all things holy BACK UP first

  • i think snow loeopard is totally worth it since it has drastically increased my computers performance but snow leopard is just like a stepping stone from 10.5 and 10.7

  • great vid

  • It might not be the greatest OS release feature wise, but the changes they did under the hood are pretty impressive.

  • im not wowed by snow leopard but thats what snow leopard is,it incorporates these amazing features without you knowing,so you can continue using you mac as if ifs leopard.and £25 is really cheap i mean your getting stuff like gcd and open cl. so great vid "D

  • I totally agree with everything you say.

  • I'm generally really happy with Snow Leopard. I've definitely seen a difference in speed. Applications run smoother as well as the finder. Great Video!!

  • im happy with snow leopard, wonder what 10.7 will be called?

  • one feature i would like to see in safari is a way to combine 2 windows into 1 window with 2 tabs

  • It can be done.

If you have 2 windows in Safari open, with 1 tab in each window. Open a second tab in one of the windows, then click on the other tab (the one you want to combine) and drag it across to the tab area in the other window. Then close the second window with the empty tab.

It's a bit elaborate, but it does the job.

  • choose Merge All Windows from the Window menu. TADA there you have it!

  • they ran out of decimal points with 10.5..... ! lol so they out it on a cd!

  • also windows xp sp2 was a drastic change! in windows xp, but 10.6 was dont good, ( I am running on 10.5)

  • Long apple users will also note 10.5 --> 10.6

is like 10.0 --> 10.1 there was not much change

the free hdd space is from removing the ppc code in all of the apps bulit in to mac osx ,and all of the code

  • which apple store did u buy snow leopard?

  • Boot times don't equal performance. overall speed equals performance.

  • If it was 85 pounds, you wouldn't have got it? Right lol. I would have liked to have seen that.

  • lol...good point...lets say,,i would have thought a few times before i got it...lol

  • That's more like it. lol

  • damn you ! lol

  • I don't understand the people who think it's a service pack. There is no way they could include OpenCL, GCD, 64 bit kernel, QuickTime X (and Quicktime is a media layer in OS X, I'm not talking about the Quicktime Player) in a service pack.

Basically those who think it's a service pack have absolutely no idea what they are talking about.

  • its hyped hence the 30$ price tag. Windows 7 has more features brought to the table than snow leopard. snow leopard is still buggy, don't think its worth buying a mac over snow leopard. maybe once bugs are ironed out, or a new Mac Os (not some bull 64bit hype apple created) sadly still behind Windows currently.

  • Indeed. Even Snow Leopard isn't a full 64bit OS. It still uses 32bit code for compatibility reasons. If you tuned in to the whole Zoul/Mrbit live stream, Mrbit explained it clearly.

  • I thought it would be because all the fanboys said it would be, I think Apple said it too. I wondering why they have not ran 32bit in a emulator like Windows, uses more ram but who cares, or maybe like linux they just use the 32bit libraries.

  • Snow Leopard has been the most bug free release of OS X. If you look back to when Leopard was released there were quite a few issues. I think Snow Leopard is ahead of 7 but thats my opinion.

  • I agree... 10.6 is the base on 10.7

    they will build upon 10.6

The marble interface will definitely be more prominent in 10.7...apple always like to 'test the water' with their ideas first and then when the next version comes out ...build upon what they have already

  • sorry for the first, couldnt resist, anyway great videos all four parts were very informative

  • I am happy with snow leopard.. great performance and great new features.. all of this can't be in a service pack.

But when do we expect 10.7 to be released? 2011?

    Great video as usual :)

  • cant wait for the mystery unboxing.

  • same

  • awesome review
