You are truly beautiful, thanks a lot for your video. it is miserable im living within Chistochina because i can't find high quality make-up, but i receive freely available cosmetics samples from "Gratis Makeup Samples". i adore L'Oreal make-up!
astounding concepts! cheers!, have anybody tried Max factors most recent range of products?! its quite hard to get quality makeup in Dallas but i managed to recieve some wonderful samples of make-up by checking out "GratisMakeupSamples", their awesome.
You actually are unbelievably gorgeous, thanks a lot for the tutorial. it is actually depressing im living within Sinai considering that i can't purchase excellent makeup, however i receive totally free trials from "Gratis Makeup Samples". i absolutely adore Rimmel makeup!

OMG!!! I just came across your video and I got soo much info, thank you so much. I always wanted to be makeup artist but living in the Caribbean makes it rather difficult as we dont have that much resources available for such. You are now my new best fan on youtube. Thanks again for the wealth of information.
"That's not what's up" haha. That was hilarious. Thanks so so so so much for all your advice it was such a big help and it inspired me to pursue my dreams Thanks again
Wow, wow, and wow! I just wanted to say I think your video is fantastic. You are so inspriring. I have no qualifications in beauty/makeup whatsoever, however practice really does make perfect. I am so grateful for this video, I just discovered it. I am in school to be a teacher, but I also want to be a makeup artist on the side and started working towards it this new year! YAY!!.

hi erin! again, another informative video! love your enthusiasm and drive--definitely an inspiration...guess you're saying that there's hope for me yet! LOL blessings
I find it commendable that you are willing to share soo much insight on getting into the biz.. You definitely have a giving spirit. Continued success to you as you pursue your own dreams.
Wow !! gr8 video as usual. Love your style. Hey is this a new format? Did you move up in the YT world of ranking? How are you able to to post a longer vid. Not that I mind. I could watch this stuff all day.
Good to know. I've been getting messages from YT to become a partner but I don't think I'll be appvd since I don't have a large # of subscribers or vids. Also, I don't know the types of quest. they ask on the app.. In a nutshell I'm being a coward. LOL
I feel your passion, that's the true guide. Love what you do. I don't want to be an artist, but I have learned soooooo much from your videos. Keep the passion. Can't wait to see the Crown Brush video!
Miss Erin, LOVED this video. I am not nor do I want to be a MUA but I learned a lot from this video. So on behalf of us makeup lovers who practice on ourselves, thank you information, the knowledge, the tips and tricks and for paying it forward.
I wish you all the best on you journey being a well known MUA.
I have been a Make-up artist for 20 years. Working a retail store is NOT what you want to do. To be respected in this business GO TO SCHOOL get your license. Then attend workshops to continue your education.
congratulations on being an artist for 20 years - that's awesome!
i must say i disagree w/you. there are many artists in the industry that didn't go to school & are HIGHLY respected. billy b, kevyn aucoin, and pat mcgrath - to name a few.
going to school is an option, but i think erin is gives an option for EXPERIENCE. a way for people to wet their feet. school isn't free, & retail exp. provides an opportunity to see 1st hand what you'll be dealing with.
How long was it before your channel "took off"? I tried making videos on a previous channel I had and did not have many people watching which discuraged me. Do you have any advice for someone trying make a Makeup channel on You Tube?
Your advice is not just great for makeup artists but can be applied to all freelancers. Excellent. Time for you to get on the speaker circuit-another personal development and income option for you
This was a VERY good video, Erin. You forgot to actually mention yourself...lol you are a serious inspiration to a lot of us. Thank you for the informative vid(s).
Erin that you so much for this video. I don't have the words to express my gratitude to you for all of the wonderful information that you provide. I have just started my business this year and have followed a lot of your tips thus far and I just want to give my testimony that your advice is real!! I'm telling you ladies everything she is saying is the truth. It is a very competitive field and the key really is confidence and being able to do at LEAST one thing VERY well. Practice is the key
yes, GREAT INFORMATION. Not interested in becoming a makeup artist, but what an interesting insight you provided. thanks. And, I must remember, no harsh edges,.....no harsh edges..
Thank you soooo much for this video!!! you will get very far and many blessings with your kindness. i'm so grateful you are helping people out even if it is a competitive field and you don't have to give any info. we need more pple like you in this world that will give us a helping hand. i really want to become a makeup artist so thank you once again. bye!!
Thanks you so much for the details and the great info! I was just wondering though, i was trying to find your crownbrush video you talked about but i couldnt find it.....
Thank you so much for this video!! I moved from MD to NYC and am starting alll over again as far as makeup artistry and feel like i have a million things to learn because I only did bridal and proms. I appreciate the help :)
Hey gurl! I am a beginner in makeup, i am 15 years old and don't really know what looks good on me as far as colors go. I was wondering if you would do a purple and black makeup look that I could wear on halloween? It would help a whole lot if you could discuss things like blush colors, everyday school things I could do and stuff. Your skin tone is about the same as mine so I can relate to you a lot. Thanks!
Love the lip combo in this vid. Very informative, I had to favorite. I so love the Powder Group! They offer so many things and am so glad you led me to them. Look, let's make a date to meet at the LA show!!! God willing. If you can, just uploaded a vid from hubby on his locs...would love your input on what he may be able to do to improve on more loc vids??
Camera ready cosmetics is also a good site for makeup artist. The owner of the site is a makeup artist also, that I came across on model mayhem. They have a few starter kits on there for people just starting out and a lot of discounts on products. :D
ps. How the hell is one makeup artist suppose to beat 40 models? ahaha
some more inspiration as always, great vid, I feel good cuz I've done and still do everything in this vid so thanks for the tips and Holla at them crownbrushes lol
Erin you are the truuf! LOL not the truth the truuf! I really do appreicate this video. -a lot of good and useful tips as I venture out on my journey of becoming a MUA. I have done a couple of weddings and my friends makeup from time to time, and now I want to make it a business and help women look and feel beautiful. Makeup is my passion...i actually get giddy to see the new colors or techniques coming out . so thank you and know that this aspiring MUA will not give up!
All of this advice is great, but bottom line you need money to buy supplies to go and do the work. It is pointless to book jobs without a full inventory of cosmetics in your makeup case. The first step is to have a makeup related job or anyother type of job, save up money for supplies and then freelance.
Not necessarily. I've been a MUA for years and still don't have a full inventory. But yes, you will need some makeup to start if you want to freelance. Or, you can work at a place like Ulta, Sephora, etc. where you don't have to have make up experience to work there. You can sometimes get left over testers, and they give you free makeup at times. You can also take home samples of items. I know many artists who work for retailers and only use the free makeup they get from work!
Thanx so much for that video, it was very informative and honest. i do feel a passion for makeup, but, just don't where to start. but your video gave some inspiration on where i need to begin...Thankx
Great video Erin. Very informative. I was writing notes during the video, because I truly respect what you have to say. I am praying that i can go to IMATS, so I can't wait to see your review on crown brushes. I already want the ones Girlcanpaint has in her videos. Youtube has opened my eyes to a career that I am good at and can be great at. Thank you for being an inspiration. :)
This is THE best video on YouTube, hands down! I've been interested in becoming a makeupartist and never knew where to start and whether to take classes at a beauty school, but wow this truly inspires me and I can't wait to get out there because of your message to people like me who don't know where to begin! A huge thanks goes out to you, I can probably pour my heart out to you of how grateful I am! THANK YOU!
Thank you so so much for this video. I am in no way a makeup artist nor do i wan to be. I do not own any MAC...but I love NYX...also I have tried flirt, you can buy it @ Kohl's
you're so so so wonderful. And I admire you to the fullest. I'm always anticipating your next video, and love them all. But this one by far is above and beyond. I loved everything you had to say, and its perfect how you simplized it to a T. You keep it pushin girl, And thank you sooo much for all this informative info you've got to give!
Great info Erin! Thanks so much as always. I myself am trying to break away from being such a "mac head" but from you and others I am learning so much about what else is out here. I have done a bit of research and understand I don't have to go to school to be a makeup artist. Since you worked for MAC maybe u can help me with this question...How can you obtain a "MAC pro-card" without having any official doccumentation of training? I have been trying to figure that out for the longest!(lol)
This info was the best ive heard in a min and straight up and to the point. I just did a fashiow show with 11 girls and beat them mugs down with loreal Hip shadows. Yessss loreal. I saved the fashion show under my favorites if u wanna see. But anyway thanks soooo much for this info. It was needed.

A huge thanks goes out to you, I can probably pour my heart out to you of how grateful I am! THANK YOU!
