I have seen numerous other video comparrisons between the B7 RS4 and the BMW E46 M3 but this is the only sight where the M3 wins. There is no doubt the E92 M3 is faster than a RS4 but not the E46. The only reason BMW came out with the V8 M3 was to compete and eventually beat the RS4. A stock E46 CSL can not beat a stock B7 RS4. Unless its modded.
The M3 CSL is even faster than the M3 4L V8 around the track. The CSL is just a very light car that sprang from a weight reduction campaign. It doesn't even have AC or a radio as standard. Good track car, but not what I would want as a daily driver.

The CSL weighs around 200kg (440lbs) less has a SMG only gearbox, and about 10bhp more than a stock E46 m3... and it is equipped with Michelin pilot sport cup ( semi slicks).
difference is an extra 100 plus pounds in the rs4 with the extra person. I have a c32 and my buddy has a m3 and the difference with just one person in the car is amazing.

It is not, other air filter. However: it was VERY hot that tay (+30-35 degrees Celsius) affecting the cars performance, and it looks liek the V8 suffered most. My BMW M5 E39 also suffered alot form the heat that day.
They will make a faster RS4 later on. The B7 chassis is old and will be replaced by a bigger, but lighter body and have even more weight distribution. Meanwhile the R8 is said to be getting a V10 and V12 TDI and I think a new 6 series is coming out with a twin turbo V8. Before you know it 4 years later they might have M3s and RSs pushing over 500hp.
Yes BMW CSL is a great car. It did beat the RS4. But looks at the two cars statistics. Audi is a everyday car full interior, all options. CSL is a street legal race car. Stripped to save weight as much as possible. Weight is the big factor here. Strip the interior by the same standards as the CSL and youll have a race. This is a BMW board..of course theyll match two very different setup cars.

BMW does not do well in F1 either. AUdi has no business is F1 anyway. They will not allow their AWD or Direct injection per F1 rules. Just like BMW will never compete in LeMans because they know they will get owned by Audi.

Hello, It is my car in the video. The yellow RS4 B7. However I drive BMW as well. Only have the license plate for three main reasons:
1. My borther had a M3 so it was kinda fun to tease him.
2. It gets me lots of attention and thus lots of spontaneous races
3. It pisses certain sensitive people of whihc is always fun :-).

It is not, other air filter. However: it was VERY hot that tay (+30-35 degrees Celsius) affecting the cars performance, and it looks liek the V8 suffered most. My BMW M5 E39 also suffered alot form the heat that day.

They will make a faster RS4 later on. The B7 chassis is old and will be replaced by a bigger, but lighter body and have even more weight distribution. Meanwhile the R8 is said to be getting a V10 and V12 TDI and I think a new 6 series is coming out with a twin turbo V8. Before you know it 4 years later they might have M3s and RSs pushing over 500hp.

Yes BMW CSL is a great car. It did beat the RS4. But looks at the two cars statistics. Audi is a everyday car full interior, all options. CSL is a street legal race car. Stripped to save weight as much as possible. Weight is the big factor here. Strip the interior by the same standards as the CSL and youll have a race. This is a BMW board..of course theyll match two very different setup cars.

BMW does not do well in F1 either. AUdi has no business is F1 anyway. They will not allow their AWD or Direct injection per F1 rules. Just like BMW will never compete in LeMans because they know they will get owned by Audi.

audi only had quattro ... that in our days sucks big time in a direct comparation test with the x-drive (belive me i was there for a magazine test on snow between a5 3.0 tdi and bmw 330xd e92 not even the 335d) and ...so what audi had and left with?? NOTHING !! audi ...a car for girls !! and don't forget what is the most known letter in the world M !!..m3 did history in racing !!! never herd of a car model from audi do that only a transmision system quattro (that sucks now) soo ?? BMW RULLZ !

Oh and there was nothing wrong with the RS4 shifts and this race was from a roll so even launch does not matter. As it is obvious from all the videos that an E92 M3 kills the RS4 everytime. An E46 M3 CSL is as fast as an E92 M3.

listen the rs4 has 420 hp but the csl 360 bhp and doesn't wigh as much as the rs4. Both are great but still the m3 is the original when it comes to performens between this 2. the rs4 is just a cpoy of the m3

guys the way you test is fantastic, it removes as mush skill from the equation by doing a rolling start as possible. But why oh why do you not have the same number of people in each car? surely people with you must want to ride? i know your never going to get exactly the same weighted poeple but the RS4 already has enough of a disadvantage in that area without an extra person :o/ am i being a bit picky?
