I didn't understand the fight scene. Charles had one on the ground beaten, and then the other guy (not that much bigger) is shown. I wonder how Charles lost. Did the bigger guy use that big stick on him or something?

THANK YOU for posting this! When this was on tv back in the 80's my friend and I taped this entire scene on a cassette and believe it or not to THIS DAY 20+ years later, we still do the scene - verbatim!! I still have the cassette, too! Plus we remember the scene with the kid Bubba - my papa taught your papa how to belly crawl! I can't find that on here though!

I think Charles losing the fight was to reinforce the Gallanders as the "Bully Boys," as the episode title suggested. If that little plot element hadn't been there, they all would have been dead.

I'm glad Charles went to the men and defended his wife, and taught them a lesson. Even though he lost in the fight, he proved what all men should do to protect their wives!

Interesting how although Charles in the end gets a couple of broken ribs and knocked unconscious all we see of the fight is him pounding on the Geoffrey Lewis character easily besting him. The rest is unshown. I always thought he had the one fellow down and was enraged enough to have been able to take down the bigger guy too but clearly not.
