@baldurus1 Rare might be the understatement of the century... I've never even seen one being displayed, much less for sale! Judging by the general price tag on the pistols and other accessories, I'd assume an original piece would command around $3200-$3500 or more on the open market for a pistol with the stock, and much more if the serial numbers on the stock were matching to the pistol.
Warning: Beware that this model Husqvarna M/40 is an inferior license built Lahti L35 which will crack at the bolt with present day ammo, having caused a lot of accidents. The Swedish procurement office (FMW) issued a recall and collected all guns and sold all of them to a portugal dealer for scrap. Please use the Lahti L35 instead, much better AND with bolt accelerator, a top performer!
@HowardJohnstone bullshit my famely has firerd the swedish lahti like from 1940-1990 and we ONLY firerd morden +p+ ammo i askt my dad and he sayed: yeah ofc people say shit I know its bullshit i have firerd over 3000 morden +p+ ammo true it" i dont think its anny difrent from the swedish one and the finnish!
I think it's unfair to call the pistol a Lahti Model 40 because it just isn't. It's unfair to the Lahti L-35. Its a Husqvarna M/40! A simplified license built derivative of the Lahti L-35. Sins their were design differences between the models its only fair to try to keep them separate.
One from all accounts mediocre an one excellent pistol.
Did you see in the beginning note...I corrected myself! For some reason I had 41 stuck in my head and didn't realize it until after the vid was made. It's not unfair because it is the Swedish version of the Lahti and not the much better quality Finnish L-35! I never mixed the two...I showed both there is a part two also to this vid. I think you are being a little to critical here, but thanks for the comment!
I'm sorry if I come across as critical! Let me just say that as a swede myself I love the fact that you feature this particular pistol. I just which you would call it a Husqvarna and not a Lahti. Sins they are different.
Oh....I see your point!!!!! I did show it being made by Husqvarna. I should have done my research a on this a bit more. Truth be known when I went to Norway I didn't bring all the facts w/me not to mention I was recovering from the Swine Flu when making this vid! lol =P
I guess I thought they were both called Lahti with the exception of being manufactured in two countries by different manufactures. This vid series was done on the fly no prep we just rolled the camera. Thnx for your input!
a word of warning to those collecting this gun intending to shoot it. If you get the Swedish version (M/40) there might be a chance it´s one of the guns that was used untill we replaced it with the Glock, and if so it will most likely have been fired with the M39B SMG ammo which is a hot load, so micro cracks might have developped in the frame/mechanism. We had a few instances with the mechanism being spat in the face of the shooter.
Odd, could have sworn i replyed to this. Oh well, here goes again. I can not confirm how serious injuries there were, but i have read of at least one case where loss of vision was involved.
That is not a real thing. Lahti pistol is a finnish invention and it have to be made in Finland. Lahti pistols was made for the finnish army in Finland. It is named after the invator, Aimo Lahti.
Apparently you did not watch the whole two part vid. It is a the real thing...just like Coca-Cola it is the Swedish version and not the better quality Finn as I discussed in the vid which you obviously failed to watch!
I've seen these pistols on occasion at gun shows and such, but didn't know a lot about them. I do have a fondness for WWII vintage firearms from all countries. Thanks for this informative video on this beautiful pistol and piece of history.
LOL I love it Rugersix from Norway. Very cool. Looks like that pistols has a lot of heft to it with all that steel. Probably doesn't kick that much. Looks like a cross between a ruger Mark 2 and a Luger 9mm. Great video I can't wait till part 2
THANKS!!! It was a lot of fun putting these clips together and I think it's great to give Norway gun enthusiast a chance to share their love for the sport! =]
@kiwitedferny Its very similar. Was in KIWI a year ago. Drove around both islands. Was there in 2001, and knew then I had to come back. Fjordland(Milford Sound) and Queenstown was just like Norway.
I almost bought one of those earlier in the year. It was also a Husqvarna but the holser was made out of canvas and had some kind of loading and/or takedown tool. I think it had a cleaning rod, too. I figured it would make a nice addition to my Carl Gustaf M96 and AG-42b.
I decided on an HK USP.45 instead, for whatever reason.

@IcyViking I know!!! Mentioned that in part two I believe! =)
rugersix 8 months ago
@IcyViking the swedish version was cheaper and easier to make and also they made 100.000 and the finish only 9.000.
The swedish version also had a slightly more powerfull round.
(1 of the reasons that it had more problems then the finish 1)

An original unmodified Lahti in good condition with original wooden holster can go for as much as 10,000$.

@rugersix It's actually the wooden holster that marks up the price here. they are extremely rare. :D

@rugersix p.s. The wooden holster also acted as a shoulder stock, you attached the grip to the end of the holster with a pin.

Just doing my part helping fellow enthusiasts keep safe.
On a sidenote, i´ve done some reading and by US standards the M39B ammo would be concidered +P, or even +P+. So you know what to stay away from.
