Daniel Craig is a much better Bond than Pierce Brosnan, in fact when I watch any of the Bond films with Brosnan, they make me cringe. The same kind of holds true with Roger Moore-if you watch any of the Moore films, and then watch Sean Connery-again, there is no comparison. Craig comes closer to who Bond is. As has been said when comparing Moore to Connery: "Moore plays Bond. Connery IS James Bond."

Brosnan's bond got his ass kicked all the time.....and he lost physical fights sometimes. The gadgets ARE what gives Bond his advantages. He's not supposed to be super man without the gadgets. The gadgets help Bond through his mission --- thats their point and they are always useful or he finds a use for them. Brosnan's bond had weakness and relied on MI6 and the women he was involved with to get him through. Thats the sign of a real "human" not...these two new Bonds.

I agree, but Sean Connery did not play Bond the way he is in the books, and he's the best Bond.

Goldfinger and The Spy Who Loved Me are not realistic spy thrillers, yet they are among the best.

Now, when the movie makers go too far as they did in Moonraker and DAD, the movies suck.

But a little fantasy does not hurt the series. Hell, even some of Fleming's books like Dr. No and Moonraker had outlandish plots.

Let's face it..some of the gadgets that Bond had in the past movies gave him such a ridiculous edge and advantage in a bad situation that even a dumbass could get out of. I think some of the material in the new Bond films are written in a style similar to the Jason Bourne films and I would  like to see the writing and direction for future Bond films take on it's own unique style.Going forward, and "taking notes" from the Bourne films, next generation Bond films should have a "real world" kind of texture, a compelling storyline and an extreme sense of urgency. At the end of the day, a Bond film should be just as good, if not better than a Bourne film.

What I like about Daniel Craig as Bond is they show Bond a a Mortal w/weaknesses he can bleed and get beat down physically and psychologically. Not a playboy invincible robot as Bond in the past.
