  • If you want to put this brilliant idea forward, just put solar Panels on your roof.

Vote with your feet, your roof and your money.

Buy & install 10 solar panels on your roof.

This will shut down the nuclear power reactors.

Herman Scheer, we owe you a great debt of gratitude.

    Youtube: paul8kangas

  • Biased documentary.

  • convert it to hydrogen !!! Africa alone could fuel the entire world with hydrogen!!!

  • 11:05 He gets 50 cents per KWH for his solar? Where I live I can get 6.8 cents per KWH, the same price as I pay for electricity.

  • 2 BP executives watched this

  • A little biased, but still a pretty good documentary.

  • Chemtrails made so many cloudy days this year it makes you believe this is one aspect of spraying. I am sure they collected money for spraying from Independent utility companies for this reason alone. Hey we will block the sunlight hold in the heat to decrease solar energy and increase power demand to cool the earth. NWO is planning a world wide carbon tax. Obama promoted solar company is BK now after raping tax credits from govt in millions.

  • Wow I Hope our goverment of New Zealand watch this to hell with the oil company

  • yeah "not a few solar panels here or there" the elites want to own the gigawatt supply so you still have to be their slave

  • It is a very distinct honor to prominently feature this information on my MAD WEB TV SCIENTIST PAGE web site as a "break through" technology. Thank you for your revolutionary work! I am currently successfully encouraging fighter plane enthusiasts to engage enemy energy tyranny. Google is very helpful when the title of my web site is typed into their search engine.

  • This is BS. Hahahaha, how much money will be waisted before this Utopian dream is proven wrong. "Save the planet?" "Global Warming?" How egotistical? Every self absorbed generation thinks they are so important that the world is going to end on their watch. This is more about Socialism and global control than a shortage of energy. Thank God there are grownups who will protect our future from these control freaks.

  • @baddogonline where are you from? US ? hmmm got to london, or spain

  • solar could work if it gets more efficient but to keep costs down we will have to go wireless like some cell phone chargers are now just larger scale. tesla had it you would just have to have same freq receiver to receive it to your house. maybe with some kind of new security code every month so people can't beat the system, otherwise only thing as of now is everybody would have to install high efficient high speed generaters to charge batteries like solar and have knowledge to up keep it.

  • if you make the solar plant in the desert how do you get the power to far away places .what do you do when it snows or rains for days, maybe weeks .i'm in favor of solar, it seems to have it's limits. today..i'll be watching..some body sneek in to the oil companys office and get back the new battier pattens they bought up ..that could help the solar issue

  • energy that costs twice as much as traditional production and subsidized by german taxpayers. yeah i'm sure that'll work out great.

  • @anonynomnomnom

    You are an idiot.

  • @Sparclen you are an excellent debater. i sure am glad policy makers listen to people like you.

  • @anonynomnomnom

I did not feel like making an argument, I just wanted to point something out. Sarcasm is the lowest and easiest form of humor and mockery, by the way.

But okay, listen. Solar energy might cost quite a penny to set up, which is why people choose coals and oil. Money however, has no value in itself. Having saved money, but running out of coal? On the long term, the only option is to choose sustainable energy like Solar Energy, even if it requires a bigger investment of money.

  • @Sparclen man the problem is eroei energy return over energy invested to make that solar pannel u use a lot of stuff does that stuff produces more than you put in it? that;s the thing if you use coal to make more oil that's it you run out of coal you didn't do a god damn thing if you put more than one energy unit of one resource to make another ,by now nowone has proved that solar panels with actual technology has an energy return over 1 it;s still debating ,i belive it is the future though

  • @io007a

I agree with you, which is why I'm studying Energy Science in Amsterdam.

  • @Sparclen good luck man as a curiosity of mine how is amsterdam i want to visit did you get hooked up on prostitutes and legal drugs? :)) i'm very curious about the way of life there ,i know holland is one of the most developed and free country in the world.

  • Interesting dilemma presented by the former president of the club of Rome – kill everyone or compassion for all – I think it quite clear enough that those at the top are devoid of compassion for the majority – technology is rendering their power obsolete therefore they will try and make us obsolete. Suited psychopaths

  • When was this documentary made?

  • Dick Cheney didn't like this.

  • Only Italy falls behind...our leaders are too involved with the old establishment to set us free from oil slavery

  • Quite funny,we will never see this technology, the goverment knows it cant sell the sun, everyone will know its free and will not pay for it.

  • the green movement was founded by the eugenics-leaders...

    ask yourself why?!!!

  • It's all our leaders that need to watch this. Not that I expect much from useless politicians who's education was probably in nothing better than business and law.

  • I just downloaded this mp3 at instantmp3s..com

  • It is up to you and I to make this video go VIRUL, not only to friends but to those who are our government officials, to businesses, colleges, EVERYWHERE! It is TIME! This is how we can do our part, because if we fail, well ....We simply CANNOT Fail. Way TOO MUCH at stake! Power to The Empowered People! If you are not a part of the solution...You ARE the problem! Let's make it happen. Lets get to "work".

  • amazing video! why isn't this sort of thing being produced on American television? it's because of what that guy said: fossil fuel companies are the ones signing the paychecks for the "experts" and other "mouthpieces" they have denouncing alternative energies. (applause) awesome, people need to know this!

  • 9:35 it says that area of France can meet total annual energy needs. From wiki the suns irradiation is around 1000W/m2 straight down (assume panels adjusted 90 d. towards the sun always). Lets say it gets 12 hours a day sunshine. Lets be optimistic and assume we always have clear sky and we get 30% efficiency. We get 1000*365*12*3600*0.3 Ws energy equal Joules ( 1Ws = 1J) out of 1m2. From wiki world energy cons. 474 E18 J. I get almost 2 areas of France and that is very very optimistic.

  • Probably the most important documentary I have seen in my life. Its almost two years old but I didn't see it before. Prices for solar panels has decreased already to less then 1 USD per Watt, since Chinese entrepeneurs has entered the market. The guy in the vid talked about 3 USD, but that's history! Within this decade solar energy will be cheaper than fossile and nuclear energy. Any investment in these old-fashioned technologies will be a waste of (tax-) money.

  • @greywarrior60 maybe man if technology get's us there in time to make solar power you need fossil fuels :))so it's a circle .

  • Today more energy results in more people wher it should be more energy is more wealth. As long as we can't control the amount of people on earth a energy transition will only help the amount of people to grow even further and we soon (even allready) run into other problems...

  • @Mikannika very true, it is unfortunate that population size has become one of those taboo subject areas that people are reluctant to address, yet unless we take direct responsibility over our family sizes all our efforts for new economic systems and sustainable lifestyles will be in vain and disastrous consequences will unfold. I feel we are already marching down the road to disaster, its a shame since education and lifestyle change now could prevent war and famine in the future.

  • brilliant!! thank you soooooooo much for speaking truth and educating the masses!!!

  • "Economically Viable" in the USA means it makes money now. We have no vision for the future. Without a plan, we won't make it there. Direct conversion of sunlight into electricity is the prime and best long-term energy solution. Energy diversity is important too, but the less "converting" you do (sun to trees to oil to fire) the more efficient it is. PV panels are at $1.65 a watt now. That's $10K to power a house forever (after incentives). In 30 years of service it nets you $220K profit. Uh huh

  • I am greatly disappointed to see that so much of this investment into solar power are being sparked by state incentives. That just screams "not economically viable".

It could be useful, in the same way that state investment in computers did end up progressing the technology. But expect monopolies, expect that the entities that grow up to provide this useful service are going to be toxic.

And when they say something like "solar energy boom" it just sounds like "solar energy bubble".

  • @Jcolinsol there is no profit in peace, if it takes a bubble ill take that bubble.

  • @Rationalranter

What? How does that work. Of course peace is more profitable war. War wastes huge quantities of resources, labor, and tax revenue.

I don't think it will take an energy bubble to make green energy pervasive, the government just needs to stop supporting the oil industry. We'd never be in this situation in the first place.

If you rely on state investment into this technology, you are going to have the exact same problem as with oil: industry domination.

  • @Jcolinsol: War is not profitable? Every aspect of the wars in the middle east have been privatized. Contractors, sub-contractors, sub-sub-contractors, etc. are being paid to carry out every task from administration to the front lines. What's more is that the companies profiting off of these wars have poured millions of dollars into lobbying firms that petition the government to continue and expand the war.

  • @Jcolinsol: Peace is more profitable to the tax-payer. War is more profitable to the war profiteers and the politicians who's campaigns are largely funded by said war profiteers.

  • Excellent video. Some really interesting points and nice footage.

  • OR, Nuclear FUsion. Instead of harnessing weak energy rays from a distant star, make 100s of stars here on earth!

No emissions, no nuclear waste and almost free after the initial costs.

    Google ITER

  • Nuclear fusion is not waste free (side reactions causes active isotopes), and waste tritium; is not for free after billions that has been funded tens of years before. It will be necessary to build more than one, because of problems with "first wall" or any others. It is super centralization and take power over people. After Bundestag Commission it is unrealistic, that NF will cover crucial part of earth demand before 2100. At this moment must be the energetic question solved completely.

  • @parthsna

Do you have a fusion reactor that I can buy NOW? No you haven't so until then we'll have to do with Solar Energy.

  • except nuclear fusion is simply no where near a stage of usefulness, solar and wind on the other hand is in production currently and is producing good solid results.

  • du do du do.

  • Netherlands? Try living in the USA. A broken educations system, a mind-set that includes the "right" to drive HUGE smoking vehicles and eight years of a mentally-retarded president.... leave us 30 years behind. It is like living in a bad television program. Be glad you live in a civilized country.

  • The grass is just as jellow at the neighbors :)

  • sadly, I feel like not much is going to change in the next four years as well. Our country is being destroyed by our own pathetic excesses.

  • @Yavor54

'A broken educations system'- US still has the best universities in the world and still a preferred place for intelligent people from all over the world for research, training and education. Every country needs to revamp primary education from time to time, USA's time is now. 'eight years of a mentally-retarded president'- much better than the one you have now. Who is planning to cap the number of smart qualified professionals from entering your nation.

  • @Yavor54

I consider offering people their personal liberty a basic element of humane civility.

  • Oh we are so behind in the Netherlands. Only because Shell has such a big finger in our politics. I hope that in about 5 year high efficient very cheap solar panels will be available and i will put my roof full of them.

  • ya ok but lets face it thatch childs play solar eater nuclear ectt...zero point is coming soon

  • And this is why the US will have to invent a new war. This time agains the Europeans to sustain their way of life: free oil=free dollars=free world???

I hope we dont let us get used to a few wealthy families that want to sustain their wealth by convincing others to fight for them.

  • i only clicked on this for the beatles reference, hahah

  • In Denmark we made up the wind energy bussiness in the 80-90's... but be cause of the right wing parties taking over in 2001... Denmark got totally behind on solar and new renewable energy. Shame on you Anders Fogh Rasmussen!

  • want to know how long we will enjoy this new revolution?

check out the ' dissapearing male'

If your into watching educational videos rather than lil wayne.

  • We have the answer surrounding us and need to take the ropes to secure our future. The ocean around us is the answer. There is more power in the ocean swells than we can imagine. The energy is always there, day or night, wind or no wind, clouds or no clouds. I have been working on a design for an ocean power system that sits offshore, out of sight that will allow us a clean, non-environmental threatening source of power that will last forever, have minimal cost, and low maintenance.

  • Can you tell us more about the system?

How large with they be, how do you get the energy to shore? How much energy is lost in transmission? What is the cost? How long will it be until it's ready? How long will it take to build them?

Will the Ocean life be effected in any way?

    How about ships?

Thanks, looking forward to any answers you currently have?

  • Share this more widely you monkeys...less than 25,000 views: just like the antique media and oil companies would like it...

  • Agreed Hawaiiguy,

Sending it to our minister of small business here in B.C. who's been on the radio promoting yet another rare pristine valley destroying dam near Powell river.

Everyone I send this video to really gets it and believes this paradigm shift is totally viable with the right political will.

  • @ThatHawaiiGuy

You're right, many more people should see this.

But for the record, this documentary was made by the antique media; VPRO (foundend 1926) is one of the Dutch public broadcasters.

  • RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!! calling us monkeys help @ThatHawaiiGuy

  • @ThatHawaiiGuy. I agree. Not enough people care. They would rather watch american idol on every tv in the house.

  • solar energy is great, but it's nature is to decentralize and empower the individual, and thus will not be replace the current big business paradigm..

we need to be much more EFFICIENT!! Less use means less money for providers etc..

Please consider that the current PROFIT system is threatened by some of these technologies..

We need to CHANGE THE PARADIGM in how we live!

  • Solar's ability to compete with conventional energy sources — called grid parity — will open new markets and allow it to survive without subsidy. Though there are regional variations, most experts peg that cost at about $1 a watt.

  • Everything you said equally applies to Wind, however. (and for that mater, Wave)

Its also worth pointing out that subsidies are needed because the inferstructure isnt there yet.

It cost a hell of a lot to get the current oil inferstructure, and thats with conviently pre-stored energy.

  • Wind is also expensive and suply fluctuates. I support both, wind and solar, as well as waves, tides and as well as nuclear and fusion (if it ever becomes available). You know, there are lots of people who rather think nuclear plants are safer then windturbanes. Atleast here in Estonia we have had huge windpowerplant projects that have all been rejected by the public.

  • [TYP THIS IN: `2012 documentary']

  • Sorry, I meant HVDC (high voltage direct current) :D.

  • Someone forward this to Obama advisors

  • Remember there are gigantic companies that are ruling their empyre in the world by conventional energies

they wont let these technologies overcome them

remember there has been free energies too but all of them were suppressed

  • Some wonderfull ideas, but I dont think import electricity down cables thousands of miles. The further you go, the more you lose.

I think power from solar will have to be stored, say, as Hydrogen. Before imported.

  • Well with HDVC (high direct voltage current) cables, your energy losses from North Africa to Europe (on average 3,000 km, I think) are 10 to 15 %, but the gain from planting the plants in the desert is 100 % (additionally desalinating water for North Africa).

There's a debate if hydrogen pipelines would be better and as far as I know both ideas are roughly equal.

BUT; time is runnung out (2050). HDVC are common technology. Hydrogen pipelines aren't. So I opt for the first.

  • Must admit I didnt think it was only 15%, I thought it would be double that.

Still, its a pretty heavy lose. Hydrogen wont deterate at all with distance, making it a bit more flexible.

Of course though, hydrogen pipelines arnt going to nearly be as safe/easy as electrical cables.

I'm not sure of the energy densitys, but maybe the quickest solution would be the littarly ship the stuff? Of course, then you lose energy in the transport itself.

  • It doesn't have to travel thousands of miles. One large solar region is not really going to happen. There will be solar plants in a lot of countries that will deal with local demand in a liquid manner and will export to and import from their neighbors if needed.

  • Not one large region, no, but theres certainly some areas of the world vastely better at generating it then others.

Its not just an issue of cloud cover and sunlight, but also avaliable land.

For instance, the UK would be hard pushed to meat demand from solar without importing quite a large distance.

Of course, if we ever get room temperatuire superconductors almost all the problems of moving electricity vanish overnight.

  • Are you serious?

  • then hope we have migrated to another solar system

  • send a nuke into it, obviously :p

  • isn't the richest person in china head of a solar panel factory?

  • hello weird wealth =._.=

  • Solar revolution now. Fuck the selfish criminals of Big Oil. They're a danger to humanity and progress. Mooie doc, VPRO.
