As a future commercial pilot the 777 is definitely a dream and I hope one day to fly the flag (as a proud Englishman & Brit) on one of these beautiful aircraft. Yes, a lot of time, money and effort flying other aircraft (Dash 8s etc.) for other airlines (Flybe etc.) will be necessary but it will be worth it when I one day hopefully fly for BA! Currently my baby is PA-38 Tomahawk 2 belonging to Ravenair! :P
@gloomyoutlook Hi - you'll be pleased to hear that we are introducing a special livery on some of our aircraft for the Olympic & Paralympic Games 2012. Thanks.
Why does an airline need to get a new livery every so many years? Why not keep a livery that people know. Don't be like Delta who thinks they need a new one every 5 years. On top of that you gonna pay to have all the aircraft in the fleet repainted?
@Hydropump75 There is no such aircraft as the Boeing 747-800...perhaps you are thinking of the 747-8i? And to answer your question, no. BA has chosen the 787 and the A380...
@tintsap Yes but They dont build there airplanes at the place where the airline they are building it for is. Since it is a boeing 777 they build it in seattle washington. Probably at boeing field where they test it. Then they send it off to london and all major cities in the uk. Then they do it over again. Thats how the airlines get all their planes. Sorry if i mispelled some stuff.
The B777 is Much Better than that B787 Delayliner rubbish that they made now, But Airbus is still the Best out there today....Thumbs up if u agree with me....
while it is true the a380 has more capacity than the boeing 748i the a380 is limited to the number of places it can go due to its size not so for the 748i and 777
@SVenables97 Hi. We will be getting the A380. You can see details of our current and future fleet in the 'about us' section og the IAG website iairgroup
@rockymountainrandom The 748I simply doesn't offer the pax capacity benefits of the A380, given BA's objectives of maximising profits at slot restricted Heathrow. That is one reason airlines are planning to fly more and more A380's out of Heathrow with the likes of Emirates going from a mixture of A380/777ERs to a 4x daily A380 to Dubai.
Very nice vid answer my ? For years how many major parts need to attach to make a plane? I wish I can bring my car here for $50k paint job..... Awesome
Boeing or Airbus they both build wonderful aircraft. Some things I prefer with boeing some with Airbus. But here the 777 is definitely the leader in its class.
@guitarstar717 not really, BA's Short Haul fleet is all AIrbus except a few 737s which are on the way out. They have also chosen the A380 as their flagship to fly their most prestigious routes, with the 787 as a key part of their plan, but not as prestigious as the A380.
Have to remind Boeing to increase the leg room, leg room in Boeing aircrafts are appalling. Well, BA has been operating a B777 from LON to Sydney for the last 6 years (22 hr flight). It's the longest B777 flight in the world.
@EmergencyAlertFreak2 What about the Airbus Beluga and the Boeing 747 Dreamlifter, they could carry it no problem, the Beluga transports stuff for NASA.
@Zero7evenX The beluga can transport aircraft fuselages and wings; it's not an aircraft carrier. Same goes for the dreamliner; it's used to carry disassembled aircraft and aircraft components. The AN-225 can carry some aircraft on its back and has a cargo bay. Obviously, none of these aircraft can carry a fully-assembled plane.
@donputo69 The 777 (301-365 pass.) is larger than the 787 (201-250 pass) Also the 777 has the worlds largest turbofan engines that set a Guinness world record of 127900 lbs of thrust in testing. They are certified at 115000 lbs each. The new 747-800 has the same engine as the 787 each rated at 67500 lbs of thrust. I think it's really cool that two triple-7 engines put out damn near as much thrust as four 747 engines
DAMN. I flew on the 777ER recentl to the philippines, and let me tell you: out of all the planes Ive traveled on, this model was by far the smoothest, most advanced, and quickest plane Ive ever been on.
Flew back on this aircraft from Narita to LHR. Had a great flight. Was amazing watching it being assembled. Although I presume it's had a new interior since then as it the seats look different in Economy now.
I wonder if this is the one my dad flew over to London when they first built it? He worked for Boeing for 11 years in the late 90's and helped to build the 777.
Hi i don't understand much of this, but in a week or so im flying to Hong Kong from vancouver, i was wondering 2 engines can match the speed of 4 engines? I think this is my first time flying international with 2 engines.
@curseknight5 Yes it can. It just really depends on how large the inlets are, amount of fuel, cargo and passengers on board. The 777's engines have larger inlets than most planes, allowing more speed.
@curseknight5 The amount of engines has absolutely nothing to do with cruising speed. What a novice comment. Cruising speed is dictated by several variables, but, thrust is the biggest. A GE90-115B has over 115,000lbs of trust. No other engine in production has anything close. But, the 747 technically has the highest cruising speed of any commercial airliner (Mach .92). This is due to the design of the wings which is optimized for high-speed flight.
