If you must really have proof check out ruben diaz flamenco explaination of Paco the only true innovator of contemporary flamenco. All genres of guitar can benefit

I agree tabs do slow people down, however songs such as this clearly have a recurring theme that can be tabbed and when guitarists such as myself hear somthing great like this they want to know this particular theme. I use tabs but i also learn about scales and practice using my ear. These skills can be exxercised on improvisation though.

it depends on how you classify a 'good' guitarist though. it shouldn't be who's the fastest, who's the best improviser etc. it should be who writes music that you enjoy most. and in that respect the edge may be better than paco to some people. i must say that paco in my opinion is one of the best ever
