this reminds me a lot of people at my school there always trying to mask themselves of who they really are, i always act original. im an actor, and i love to act in my free time in class which means i like to act ghetto, Mexican, and lots of other stuff. but i get made fun of alot because of it, and it really gets to you after a wile. but i always find away to escape away from that anger. and that is through acting. so always try to be original and dont try to mask your self for other people

I've been going threw a really tough time latley. I kinda stumbled onto this video but I am so glad I did. Those words and concepts will be in my mind for a long time. Thank you so much for posting this video. I'm in High School and I recently got kicked out of the "popular group" because I actually care about those who nobody really see's. This video makes me actually want to embrace my myself instead of hide it. Thank you so much, you have no idea how much of a difference this has made on me.
We're always expected to follow a trend and conform to society in order to simply survive. We're always being controlled to change our lives in order to make a living. I should be able to pursue things I enjoy that make me happy without needing to make others happy. In today's world, especially with careers, specific things are required just to be accepted. Homeless people have no jobs even though they can extraordinary talent. That's increasing because jobs have such high standards.
This was a great video man. You really do know how to be a good speaker. I think every one needs to see this and release on how important it is to really be your self not just a shadow in someones mind. only your self can truly make you happy and people need to understand how to show it to make it happen
this really made me smile. and REALLY got me thinking. i am going through a lot of things right now dealing with family secrets, being a young mom, dealing with harsh in-laws, depression, anxiety, ocd. i have become this person i don't even know anymore. im so scared of doing or saying the wrong things ALL the time. thinking back to when i was a teenager i really had confidence, i knew who i was and loved that i was me. as i grew up it kind of all back fired and i don't know why!!
i know how that is.i went through a rough 6-7 years of my life struggling with many things in my life and depression. for me it was learning to tell my grandmother that i didnt want to spend time with her anymore....that was hard, but she was one of the biggest bullies in my life, and thats my own blood.my family. sometimes you have to just stand on your own even separate your self from your family to be able to grown into your own person. i still cant face her though
exactly! society cannot be in agreement with every individual one in it, so society isn't always right, so it isn't wrong to not be like everyone else, or what it expects you to be, since that isn't always the best for you. You are you and one of all the different individuals in society. it is the difference that makes it comprehensive/rich, more interesting and therefore a finer and stronger society.
I've lost the last couple years of my life to social anxiety and a complete inability to connect with the world around me. Feeling alot better these days and guys that speak as freely and intelligently as you really help. Thanks.

I don't think that it is as easy as you say, because many people are afraid that when they stand up for them selfes and wshows who they are, and not who they should be, they are afraid that they are going to be left alone with no friends.

i had the problem with people excepting who i was....in one point of my life i actually tried to change me, but as soon i got like half way through high school i really didnt give a fuck, and i was just my self...i got made fun of for brining my guitar to school..i got picked on for what i did on my free time...and i got beat up for not being afraid of shitheads. looking back im glad that all happend cuz it helped with me today. i like being me, and if someone doesnt like that, the can fuck off.
