It doesn't fit well with the story. I mean if they put it in it would make him seem too obsesed with her. Also, the movie works with or without the scene. This is how most movies work:

1)4-6 hours of footage.

2)cuts down to about 2-3

3)desides what is important

4)cuts out unimportant stuff

5)movie is now 1.5 - 2.75 hours long

6)seens that were close made the "deleted sceens" spot.
