I had this one prepared as an audition solo for the USMC MEOP program. However I never had a chance to play it, they needed me on oboe instead and choose to hear me play and accepted me on mvmts 1 & 2 of Mozart's Oboe Concerto. Would have been nice if they told me that they weren't going to listen to me on bassoon, I could have put more time and effort into my oboe playing (my primary instrument). I do have to agree that all the movement was a bit much to take, it's rather distracting.
Incredible! I played this for concerto competition (at my college) and it's not an easy piece, let alone standing (yes, i sat... lol). Either way, the tempo is great, the quality is extremely warm... nothing more to be said but excellent job (even sans cadenza lol). Incredible.
In this movement, it sounds like either Saxton was a little too fast, or the orchestra was a little too slow. There seems to be a little bit of a disconnect there. But of course Saxton does a fine job anyay....:)
I agree, the tempo difference between the orchestra and Saxton was too disconcerning for me. Fine job but I would have been more impressed if they matched each other.
what kind of orchestra is this? are they professionals?

@obetuyi what altissimo are you referring to? this piece goes up to a G. which isn't altissimo....

There are WAY too many cadenzas these days. I don't know why everyone needs a cadenza. What's wrong with a good old filing cabinet? :) har har har
