  • the oil was full in the crank case but that didnt include the filter which holds another prolly half quart. prolly less. its differs. but reguardless when you start it and shut it off and check it again its gonna be a little low...

  • Thx helped me on my final examines ;)

  • Dont forget the blinker fluid! lol

  • I like to start the car and look for any leaks after I replace the oil. Then I shut the engine off and check the level of oil in the engine. The amount of oil needed to fill the new oil filter is going to affect the reading on the dipstick.

  • hey what bout the fuel filter?

  • did he just say battery water? at 0:12

  • @manout234 Yes, automotive batteries can be topped up with (distilled) water.

  • What a cool guy

  • i love his enthuisiasm haha

  • what size wrench do I need to remove the oil drain plug (chevy cavalier 2002) thanks

  • @moskitonetski2 - A typical socket set will have any size socket you need to remove the oil drain plug.

  • no honda love in this vid

  • great video

  • it had to be from the 80's or early 90's lol

  • haha when was this made? I love his Mullett!

  • @Rare92Mustang - Why would you like his, "Mullett", English fish soup?

  • On engines where the oil filter is not upside down or sideways, I like to pre-fill the filter with fresh motor oil instead of installing it dry. Pre-filling the filter with oil reduces the time it will take for the engine to build up oil pressure on startup.

  • @TranceScene I totally agree, and even when alot of people disagree, What can it hurt?

  • this is a nice general video, but it wont do much good for some cars. its better if you see a video made by changing oil on a car like yours.

  • This truly makes me understand the steps that i'm going to be doing in a oil change i'm a high school student and this is a good way to learn...Thank You.

  • this video left so much shit out. before u do anything u need to start the car and let it warm up for at least 5 minutes. then u pull the dipstick so when u drain the oil it flows right through quick . god i need to make ma own videl. god dont u ppl pay attention when u go to the mechanix.

  • Make your own video and stop bitching, then.

  • you wont get a whole lot of air thru the dipstick tube. the best way to ensure the oil flows out quickly is to remove the oil filler cap. but i prefer to keep them all there, to keep the oil from going too far from the plug. the way i do it it takes 30seconds to 1 minute to drain, but it falls right below the plug, so i dont spill any.

  • ThANK YOU, sir

  • that oil he poured in looked used castrol is usally way clearer than that. good video though.

  • @1dickweed1992 - Castrol is manufactured by BP, or British Petroleum, the infamous company of the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

  • when u start the car the new oil filter will suck in some oil so dont check the dipstick right after oil change

  • the BEST overall car maintenance video by far on basic care care. Thanks for the video!

  • thnks .. really useful tips ..
