That's one stupid thing about villains, they always get so greedy. They always fail because they try and conquer the ENTIRE world. If you own one plot of land or even a country leave it at that, and hope no one rebels. Seriously, I'd love to own a country or a vast amount of land. The world is too big of a prize, you'd have rebellions coming at you left and right. Someone might try to dethrone you, the trick about domination is keep it simple stupid.
