Respectfully I disagree especially with the no call on the block. When they replay it from overhead Hansbrough has the ball and just pulls it against the shooter arms. The goaltending is another story and that type of goaltending trying to determine as the trail official who is above the 3 point line to try and tell if its going doen at live speed is not easy and having been in that situation I can say that from experience.

FIBA rules don't say the hand can be considered part of the ball. However, the illegal contact was so minimal that it didn't place the shooter at a disadvantage (especially since he got legally "checked" or "blocked" as you say before so no chance of scoring by that point)?

If you are worried about any call on the transition, what about the forearm the Miami player put into Hansbourgh? If anything you could make a real easy case that was a foul first. Block was NOT clean! Easily a foul. He hits him hard enough to change his body direction, that is clearly a foul! If he calls it out of bounds, it prevents an easy two points for UNC. They may have scored on the next possession, but Miami may have made a defensive stop aswell. Oh and EASY goaltending call! Does is matter? Hansbrough's play was close enough where it should have been called. Game's a blowout anyways, and they are going to give NC that weak of an And 1 call, why not make a call where the UM player goes to the floor after contact? This is the same ref crew that did the Vanderbilt vs. UT-Martin game. I taped it, and there were 22 walks they should have called. These guys have always been terrible.

Tylers block was very clean...B.Wright was close to a goaltend but if the ball is still goin up and it looks like it was then it was clean...and he did not step on the line was a great play...but other than that they are getting beat by 22 so who cares...lol...just another UNC victim!
Just because the coach gets thrown out for arguing, doesn't mean that the call's, or lack there of are bad. I'm sure he was at the point where he would try anything to get his players fired up. To bad it didn't work.
He was in the air after taking two steps out of bounds already. The goaltending was obvious, while Tyler's block was questionable... it's hard to tell if he got all ball or part of the hand. I'm sure Coach Haith was trying to get his team fired up, but there was also quite a bit of frustration with the refs there too.
Miami fans, I know you are all new to the ACC and all but you need to know 2 things: 1. UNC gets zebra love. 2. Duke gets zebra love. All one has to do as look at the stats on who shoots the most free throws every year. For the past 20 or so years, its UNC or Duke every season. And Hansbrough can play like a bull in a china cabinet, but when is the last time you've ever seen him foul out?
Fact checking is a great thing, you know... no one gets excluded from the ACC Tourney, so we've made it 3 times in 3 years. We've beaten Maryland and Clemson in the ACC tourney the past two years. We made the NIT 2 of the last 3 years and actually went pretty far 2 years ago. We haven't made the NCAA Tourney in several years, but we've been as high as a number 5 seed and have made it to the Sweet 16 before. Are we a marquee program? No way... but that's hardly "always sucking."
We finished middle of the pack our first two years in the ACC, then had an injury-decimated season last year. That's hardly "always sucking" at basketball. Besides, what does that have to do with bad calls?

I was at this game and I remember Miami calling its timeouts right after the tv timeouts to rest players and break up the continuity of the game. This resulted in a much longer than average game. In my opinion, I think the refs just got lazy.
ACC officiating is generally poor b/c referees in our league have trouble disassociating themselves so they can make the right call at the right time. Every ACC team has had to deal with poor officiating at times.

Hansbrough's play was close enough where it should have been called. Game's a blowout anyways, and they are going to give NC that weak of an And 1 call, why not make a call where the UM player goes to the floor after contact? Especially when it's right in front of the UM bench. It's called game management.

I've specifically said in these comments that no one is blaming the loss on the refs... Miami got destroyed in this game on their own. But that still doesn't excuse some horrible and blatantly-missed calls that ACC refs tend to make over and over and over again throughout the years.

I don't think anyone is saying that the refs cost us the game... we were BAD last year and playing a horrible game. There's no blame on them for losing us the game -- we did quite a good job of that on our own, lol. That still doesn't excuse bad calls by the refs.

It doesn't matter is a team sucks or not, the refs should make the calls right, not for the better team. that is the problem with sports today, veterans get calls but rookies have to move their way up. top programs get calls but the lower ones don't get those cause they're not as well known. give me a break, a foul is a foul, out of bounds is out, a rule is a rule, no matter who you are. botton line

Tylers block was very clean...B.Wright was close to a goaltend but if the ball is still goin up and it looks like it was then it was clean...and he did not step on the line was a great play...but other than that they are getting beat by 22 so who cares...lol...just another UNC victim!

He was in the air after taking two steps out of bounds already. The goaltending was obvious, while Tyler's block was questionable... it's hard to tell if he got all ball or part of the hand. I'm sure Coach Haith was trying to get his team fired up, but there was also quite a bit of frustration with the refs there too.

Miami fans, I know you are all new to the ACC and all but you need to know 2 things: 1. UNC gets zebra love. 2. Duke gets zebra love. All one has to do as look at the stats on who shoots the most free throws every year. For the past 20 or so years, its UNC or Duke every season. And Hansbrough can play like a bull in a china cabinet, but when is the last time you've ever seen him foul out?

Fact checking is a great thing, you know... no one gets excluded from the ACC Tourney, so we've made it 3 times in 3 years. We've beaten Maryland and Clemson in the ACC tourney the past two years. We made the NIT 2 of the last 3 years and actually went pretty far 2 years ago. We haven't made the NCAA Tourney in several years, but we've been as high as a number 5 seed and have made it to the Sweet 16 before. Are we a marquee program? No way... but that's hardly "always sucking."

I dont know about the goaltending, but that second one was definitely out. Then again, you look at the score, its not like it really mattered, UM sucks at basketball, and thats what happens. Good players get good calls, thats not right, but the truth.

I was at this game and I remember Miami calling its timeouts right after the tv timeouts to rest players and break up the continuity of the game. This resulted in a much longer than average game. In my opinion, I think the refs just got lazy.
ACC officiating is generally poor b/c referees in our league have trouble disassociating themselves so they can make the right call at the right time. Every ACC team has had to deal with poor officiating at times.

I agree, they didn't affect the outcome of the game, but I didn't post this as an example of refs blowing a game. I posted this video to show the bias/blindness/awfulness of ACC basketball refs. I could have easily posted almost any Duke game, but as a Canes fan, I had this game handy and was still mad over the disrespect shown us in these horrible calls. No, they didn't change the fact that UNC was destroying us, but that doesn't make the calls right.

Duke has, by no stretch of the imagination raped Carolina...ever. I'm a fan of UNC, and I agree that most, if not all of those plays should have been called as fouls. If I was the Miami head coach I'd be pissed off too. I feel that Carolina and Duke are equally fantastic teams, that's what makes the rivalry so great. But you know as well as I do, that if McRoberts leaves next year, Duke will be losing a major part of their team. Same as with Hansbrough for UNC.

yea we are in trouble if he leaves. but when duke played vcu he didnt seem to be giving it 100%. and throughout the season. it just doesnt seem that mcroberts was fully commited. we have a great class coming in next season and hopefully we can get patrick patterson to sorta fill in for him. i still think we will do alright with him gone. coach k never took him out. maybe now he will be forced to use the bench. so is hansbrough leaving?
