This sounds remarkably close to a Compton theatre organ! 37 ranks sounds large by Theatre organ standards in the uk And i assume it was from the Aeolian organ that the theatre organ as we know it was developed. Are the 37 ranks full scale 61 note for each pitch of each stop or is it unified like a theatre organ?
Thanks for such a wonderful interpretation of my great uncle's Deed of the Pen. It really was an "official march" for the St. Louis Louisiana Purchase Exposition in 1904 and you've done a great job of giving it the vim and vigor it must have had when the Expo's brass bands played it. Much appreciated. Nan Bostick, Moret's grand niece & biographer
Again, thank you for your kind comments. Tuning IS a bit of a squeeze but every pipe is accessable. May I respectfully draw your attention to some very fine recordings of my humble efforts, still available on CD. The web site has details.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH. What an honour! Since getting "hooked" on Hiawatha, and Poppies, I have always had a great love of "Neil Moret" and many of my friends are fellow enthusiasts. I learnt the "Deed of the pen" (which I play by ear) from an organ roll, which can be used on the organ you see in the video. For me, the best bit is the counter tune which occurs when the trio section comes back. Again, thank you for your wonderful compliment
About 37 ranks and very little room for tuning, you have done a fine job. Not easy.Thank you for posting a recording of one of these rare instruments. I hope our 2/23 at the Crocker Mansion sounds anywhere near as good when finished.
