This is interesting.. I've never seen Greyhounracing with a real rabbit, and I'm curious, the bigger races, with the track and everything, are dangerous because the dogs trip on eachother and hurt themsleves and such, but with only two of them at a time, in a straight running line, doesn't seem too bad to me.. plus the muzzles prevent the rabbit from getting hurt.. this seems like a much safer, more enjoyable way for them to race.. right..?
this is stupid. if u want your pet to run cause they want to do it why you have to race them? i have 4 dalmatians and they love to race each other whenever theres nothing to persue
I love ALL animals. But in this story, there is nothing abnormal! Rabbits don't get hurt, they escape. That is normal for them - to run away from predators, that is not stressing situation for them, THAT is normal every/day/situation for rabbits!!! They get over it fast. If it WASN'T normal situation for their hearth, they would fell in shock, or get a hearth attack....
Racing and LURE-Coursing are not a blood-sports. Rabbit/Hare/Fox/etc-Coursing IS. This of course was a RACE using a lure. if it had sharp turns on pullies, it would be Lure-Coursing. Greyhounds are big and long, and are better at RACING... like here. Whippets and other smaller sighthounds are better at lure-coursing because they corner much better than greyhounds.
@lovinmotocross Not cruel? So that Rabbit is fine yeah ugh do you realize how frightened that Rabbit/Hare must off been? How about if u got locked in a cell with a bunch of murders lets see how you would feel. Stupid little cunt..
@CandiceM888 hahaha how is it any different from a wild rabbit escaping from a fox or coyote? Don't be so naive. Animals do NOT have the same emotional overreactions that humans do. Sure they get scared if a predator tries to eat them, but if they escape they do not go back to their lil rabbit hole and dwell on it for days. They don't wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat fearing greyhounds and have to go see a lil bunny therapist. They simply do not have that capacity.
Ya know Candice, in California you can legally shoot rabbits? Here they're classified as game mammals and pests. So if i wake up tomorrow morning and see a rabbit in my yard eating my lawn, I can legally put a pellet right through its head and leave the carcass for the coyotes. Do you suppose the rabbit would be frightened then, or would it have no clue what even happened before its head was ripped apart?
@syclone1931 *invalid. better? honestly, I don't care anymore. I'm NEVER going to agree with you, or any other person who is for-hunting. and probably not...shootings different, but that's beside the point. I'm against ALL hunting!
@CandiceM888 I like hunting, coursing , shooting and fishing. I am also a conservationist and can gaurantee you that I do far more for the environment than some tear jerking animal rights activist like you. Grow up and get a life.

@syclone1931 people like that just need something to destroy because they have no life and need something for their ego to latch onto. dog racing is a sport of kings a sign of sovereignty that nobody has the right to tell another person what is right or wrong for them , just don't partake in the event if you don't like it.
¡¡¡exelente!!!

How is it disgusting? It's greyhounds doing what they do best - you only need to have a greyhound to know how much they enjoy that kind of thing. The only thing that's cruel about this kind of sport is if the animals are breed or kept cruely, but since niether of those things are featured in this video I cant see what you find so bad about it
As there is no actual proof that either of these animals are being mistreated, or have been mistreated, it would be biased to immediately assume that they were being treated so. There are two sides to every story, and not every animal involved in this kind of "sport" is mistreated. I also have a rescued greyhound, and I know that he would enjoy taking part in something like this possibly more than anything else I can think of, besides hunting - it is just what is in their nature
Several thousand young greyhounds get killed every year just for not being fast enough, on top of the mistreatment and injuries very common in this "sport". My greyhound loves to run too, and I have no problem letting her run whenever she wants. I don't need to have her chase a rabbit, or have people wager on the outcome of a race.
Im not denying those facts for a second - and I completely agree that the treatment many animals recieve is horrendus. However what is shown in this video is not in my opinion
Nice video !!! I had one for 13 years. It's a great dog.
If you want to watch how a greyhound washes his face when I ask him to, don't miss my video. It has been so hard to teach, but the result is so funny. I hope you will like it.
great clip . A son of Tynwald Smokey named Moonveen Smokey is one of the favourites for this years competition. I have videoed his qualifier at Dungarvan

So because the cruelty inherent to this "sport" is not being shown, that makes it OK? I have a rescued greyhound, and I find this video disgusting.
