how come the genesis version has allot thicker music then those other versions.i think the genesis one sounds best,it's got all the instruments going on really well the drum bass and the guitar sound pretty thick .

@aryinc: The Genesis (or Mega Drive, depending on what part of the world you're from) uses a sythesizer, as opposed to soundfonts or MIDI. That's why it sounds richer.

Soundfonts and MIDI are both synthesis (in fact, MIDI is a sort of meta-synthesis, and soundfonts use MIDI for the most part), and the richness of the sound is entirely dependent on compositional ability (and perhaps the quality of your sample set/equipment/performers, depending on what medium you're working with).

It is not a bad game, but it gets no recognition form the shooter fan base because most people who play shmups CRAVE a crushing difficulty. Zero Wing has decent controls, good graphics, and excellent music, but it does not have that crushing difficulty that the niche demands.

For someone looking to get into scrolling shooters this game is perfect, but as for me, I will stick to those "insane" shooters like Touhou.

Some people seem to think it's automatically bad because of the bad translation, well a ton of games on the NES got worse translations than this and they are considered some of the best games on the system (like Ghouls N Ghosts) they thing with this game had so much text so it really shows.

Those who actually owned this game back when it was new (it's pretty common in Europe) before the All-your-base crap have a different view of this game.

@101jir Apples and oranges, really. Zero Wing is side-scrolling, and has an interesting tractor beam ability. I like Raiden a lot more because I think the power-ups are better, and it has some nostalgic value to me.

the translation in this game sucks, but who cares. The game is awesome and also very forgiving. For example you have unlimited continues. But the most memorable of this game is the music, pure epicness.

"For great justice!" is fragment and not a full sentence, I'll give you that. It should have "Do this/it" or similar in front of it. I wouldn't go so far as to call it incorrect, however.

I don't know what you guys think, but I think Zero Wing is a good game, even if the grammar is poor. I haven't played zero wing personally, but I played a Flash game that look a lot like zero wing, anyway, I sure hope SEGA makes a remake of zero wing one day...one day...just wait and see...
