How about COSTITUTIONAL RIGHT to health care. No more AARP, HMO'S, managed care etc. U get your medical needs met, you get & review bill, send to FED GOV and the Drs. & hosp get set fee. EQUAL health care for all. Why isn't that what these folks advocate for ? Oh we wouldn't need them and they tell gov what WE want.
A few years ago, two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to ask if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said,"Take the kids and get out of the house. We'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue." The "clown statue" is really a killer that escaped from jail. If you don't post this letter on to 10 videos tonight, the clown will be in your bed at 3:00 am with a chainsaw in his hand
The Best Candidate to support "Seniors" is Ron Paul. The chief reason seniors have to depend on gov't healthcare is the shear cost (opportunity costs and residual costs) of gov't regulation. Those industries that have limited gov't regulations prices go down as tech goes up. I.E Computer Hardware and Software industries. Alternatively, in Healthcare, as Tech goes up, Prices also go up - why? Heavy Gov't Regs!
AARP isn't concerned about retired persons, it's concerned about selling retired persons insurance. That's why AARP marginalizes support for a national health insurance program i.e. Single Payer.
Zip it! This video is garbage, they cant even invite Mike Gravel or Dennis K. to the debates. If they really cared about our well being they would include the best two choices for President. AARP=Corruption
kyeot...if you think those two asswipes are our best choices for President, then you're beyond repair and should be institutionalized or you're just another lying asshole Liberal masquerading as a human being, at least until you post something. idiot.
My husband is 60 yrs old and I am 57,we both worry about our Health Care Plans,we both greatly agree that it is time for Congress to listen to the older generation, and give us what we deserve. We both belong to AARP,and with AARP support,we can all fight this issue with Congress. This video was really hit the issue about our problem. Thank You Gwen and Gary Johnson
The problem is the insurance companies -- the middlemen -- skimming 30% profit and overhead off the top of every health care dollar, and hiking doctors' costs because they have to hire so much billing staff to fight with insurance companies for payment. We need to remove the profit motive from the life or death process of providing health care. And AARP has to start lobbying for the benefit of its members -- for single-payer health care for all -- instead of its insurance company partners.
AARP SELLS ins. YOu really think they want a CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT to health care? More complicated they can make it the more you gotta buy from them. U paid for health care your intire wrkg life and the Reps & Dems screw you out of it? Never vote for an R or D. They stole what you earned already and now you gotta pay again? R we baby boomers really that stupid?????
AARP NON-PARTICIAN??? Sounds like a road I don't care to go down. It's never about money, its about help. I am 71 and full-time caregiver for my husband with no help at all. There is NO social service available. When will be get RID of government run medicare?
This is the argument of the heath provider's loby. They want to keep universal heath care from the masses. This would put controls on the massive rise in medical costs we continue to see. What choices do those in HMOs have? Let us end the fear tactics and work to provide universal health care for all in the most prosperous nation on earth. They won last time. Let's give Hillary the benifit of the doubt. Alan Greenspan said of Hillary, "A very intelligent person".
AARP does unauthorized lobbying for its membership, and lobbies against the best interests of its membership. Lobbying for the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act, AARP leaders betrayed the membership.
While of course our healthcare system is far from perfect, really commend AARP for fighting the good fight here. More action like this will only make things better.
Wow. I don't understand how some of the people who've posted comments can watch this video and think that helping low-income older Americans with their drug costs is a bad thing.
Universal health care = medical, drugs, dental, vision = one payer, through the government. We have billions to give to our war machine, to ear marks, and able to pay for scoundrels in congress with health care for life, yet we don't have the brains or courage to fight for our own. Universal health is a necessity to keep our nation, productive and free of the insurance companies, drug companies and yes doctors (who by the way, are paid more than any other doctors in the world.)
Thank You! What we have is a mess. Yet we are pacifying our selves with lies as to why we don't have what the rest of the western world would never give up. We are willing sheep being led closer and closer to the edge of a cliff.
AARP should stay focused on their primary mission, which is to look out for the health and wellbeing of senior citizens. AARP stands for the "Association for the Advancement of older Persons." This organization should not therefore, become something for everyone.
Why have we put it off on people who already have national health care and have absolutely no interest in giving the same to us. Meanwhile, they submit more do nothing bills to get us to believe anything else will never work here. Are you blind? OUR SYSTEM ONLY WORKS FOR A FEW WHILE WE can see HOW GREAT IT ISN'T. Wake up! You have been sold a lie and you repeating it doesn't help you or anyone else. Government isn't your enemy it's YOU!
The gov can't even address our soon to be broke Soc.Sec. how do you expect them to fix the health care issue. More Gov. is not the anwser, remember Katrina.
Katrina aftermath is the result of Repbulican corrupton and ineptness, it was ineffective government plus willful determination to weaken a department that the Clinton administration left operative and formidable.
What happened to the America that stood for "Can do?" Countries like France can do because the government works for the people. Ours works for the rich.
No matter who the French elected, their health care program has not changed. That is the beauty of a government by the people for the people. Why is it that Americans, vote against themselves on issues that are really no-brainers? Should we be paying the fire department through personal insurance so that when our house burns we have an agent available to give the fire department an okay on hosing down the homestead?
The Social Security Trust Fund has Trillions of dollars in it and growing. Don't let the guys that want to take that money for themselves cheat you out of it. They say government is bad, get elected, and then go out and make governemnt bad. Katrina was their model of "success". Billions were passed out among themselves. Elect those who will make government good, and hold them to their promises.
If AARP really cares about it members, why do they not offer its members health insurance and dental insurance from three insurance companies so they will compete instead of just one. It is stupid to pay 1200,00 dollars prieum and they have a cap of the same amount for dental coverage.
I wish AARP would have been so "Gung-Ho" BEFORE the Medicare D RX Drugh Plan was passed! But, NO, you were FOR it! We remember, AARP, and we will NEVER forget!
I find this ad confusing and vague. Who are the bad guys? On one hand it says the drug companies and later says the government should help pay for drugs. Either way, the drug companies get their money. Whether from the government (and where does government money come from, if not ME?) or from me, personally, the drug companies profit. Let's be clear about who the enemy is and who ends up paying them.
Problem is all the illegal aliens draining our medical funds. Hospitals are defaulting because of congress refuses to seal our borders. Wake up, it's not the fat cats or lobbiest. It's our borders stupid!
It appears that our congress is lax in addressing critical health care issues for our young and old. Every member of AARP and those that read/view this video ahould contact their respective elected officials to ask them to correct this short coming.
Pretty interesting video. Seems kind of mean to deny help to widows like that. I went to the URL in the video and then I called 1-800-795-5336 and was patched through to my member of Congress toll-free. It was pretty easy.
