The wordplay from 3:48 to 4:42 is just awesome. "Big operator, he ain't kiddin", LOL. I gotta say though, Doc Barker seems like the role Kenneth MacDonald would usually play, was he not available during the filming of this ep or something?
@TheJoeCortazzo They weren't switching back and forth. Curly was the third stooge in the act from 1934-1947. Shemp took over from Curly after Curly suffered a debilitating stroke in 1947. Shemp continued as the third stooge until 1955 when he died from a sudden heart attack.
@jackscatz When their contract ran out with Columbia, Moe and Larry started planning a tour. Joe's wife had just had a heart attack, so he withdrew from the act. They hired Curly Joe. When Larry had a stroke and later died (1975), the plan was to use Emil Sitka as the third stooge, but then Moe died a few months later. Curly Joe kept up live performances with two new stooges (Mousie Garner and Frank Mitchell) into 1979. Joe died in 1988 and Curly Joe in 1993.
@TheJoeCortazzo It started with Shemp Larry and Moe with their boss Ted Healy. Shemp quit because of Healy's arrogant ways. Curly replaced him. Curly gets a stroke, Shemp comes back.
