I love that this theme almost has a 'razzle dazzle' feel to it-like the Doctor's really enjoying himself and putting on a show, while still having the heavy action/adventure feel. It's very unique, fitting for Matt Smith's portrayl of the Doctor.

I just realised.

The melody at the beginning sounds awfully similar to tubular bells! (the exorcist).

I realised it when someone was whistling tubular bells and It hought they were whistling this, haha.

Is this not the definition of badassery at work? I love this theme because it infuses the Doctor with that little hint of space swahbuckling-ness and high adventure that makes the character timeless. In that sense it's very much like the middle-eight of the Doctor Who theme that usually gets cut out during the opening credits (except for the 7th Doctor's run). It's like the Doctor is the Captain Blood of time and space and by George, if that isn't iconic then I don't know what is!
