Reiki was developed (and by that I mean made up) in 1926. That's really ancient.

If it is so "made up", why do so many people believe in it and use it? Have you even ever tried to feel your own energy? It's simple yet eye opening. Just rub your hands briskly together for 1 minute and hold your palms about 3 inches from each other. You can then feel the energy continuing to flow within your palms. This is just the beginning- do some more research before you open your mouth

People believe in it, because they want to believe in it. Personal testimony is not something to go by when evaluating the validity of a claim.
In a study called "Effects of reiki in clinical practice: a systematic review of randomised clinical trials" reiki was shown to have no effect beyond that of a placebo.
Rubbing your hands together creates heat (friction) and increased blood flow to the hands. That's the energy you are feeling.
