i asked ian multiple times to play this .he replied possibly , and maybe , but in 28 shows all over the place they not once played gods will be gods. every show was ecstasy anyway .even glastonbury in the mud with a bicycle
Porupine & Heaven Up Here, was a teen when i bought these, still listen to both a lot, pisses me off tho as when speaking to people about music im into lots of noise,SWANS Butthole Surfers, Unsane and AMREP list goes on, but nowadays it's Oasis etc, i hate them, mention a band these idiots like, it's , oh! Bunnymen, killing moon, cutter, Im thinking (NO) although good songs, to me it's Broke My Neck, Way out and up we go, Turquoise Days, With A Hip etc . real fucking tunes.
Brilliant album, a real surreal experience if ever there was one - a one off . How many bands would think of writting a song about a seldom known english dramatist, John Webster? One of the most underated bands around.
@Terry1950Men Actually, Ian McCulloch didn't know who John Webster was, he saw the name in his girlfriend's English book and he added it to the song because he couldn't think of anything else and it fit. Fun fact right there lol
The Bunnymen`s most sinister song. I remember hearing this for the first time in 83 and thinking "Fuck, they`ve done it" and indeed they went all out on this one. Brilliant and Apocalyptic.
The Alternative Versions a lot better then this version. His voice and the music are a lot more powerful. :-)
