For every classic that Pete Ham wrote and performed, there are at least five that should have been but never were. I love the way he wrote lyrics too - direct, yet always being a little mysterious too. Thankfully we have performances like this to remember Pete (and Tommy) by. Pete's best songs, including this one, are good enough to rival Lennon/McCartney. Too many of the great artists leave us far too soon.
Sometimes I think I should unsubscribe from the Badfinger message board because every new bittersweet post brings a tear to my eye. Thanks so much for keeping Pete's legacy alive.
Pete Ham was a natural. As a live singer or live guitar player. I'm always so impressed. Big inspiration for me. I wish I had half his talent. Love your videos, Dan. Let's get some more demos out. 7 Park Avenue is now big collectors item on EBAY.
Hi Dan,thank you so much for this lovely upload! Never heard a live version before,it is very touching to hear Pete singing his beautiful song in concert!
This actually brought tears to my eyes. Why was he the one to be sacrificed? And it did nothing. Polley lived to be over 80. Apple and The Beatles said nothing. Everyone wanted to wash their hands of him, it seems. Was he right in his suicide note? "I WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO LOVE AND TRUST EVERYBODY" Forty years later, seems so, doesn't it? Bless you for this, Dan Matovina. Keep carrying the torch. And ignore the jealous a-holes.
Stunning.
