@jamiroquai01fan I agree, Zender was great, but it didn't kill the sound when he left. The band went through an evolution. When you are poor, and first breaking into the industry that hunger tends to come out in your music. As time goes on and you make money you get more relaxed. But there is no way you can listen to their performances in the last 5 years and turn your nose up at it. Live at Scala 2007, and Live at the Jazz Cafe 2006 are amazing.

The bass player is Stuart Zender. He was responsible for the the real Jamiroquai sound, it was never the same after he left. His last album was traveling without moving I believe. He basically got into an argument with Jaykay I think. He's now playing for Mark Ronson.

I completely disagree. You cant make music with just 1 bass player. Zender was great at what he did but he is very VERY overrated. He certainly added to "the Jamiroquai sound" but he certainly was not single handedly responsible for it. :)

Take Sting out of the Police and the band is gone... there you have it.... I agree that the situation with Zender is different, but he has such a distinct signature sound that was absolutely perfect for Jamiroquai

a fair point but completely different in every way, if there is one person who is the main person behind the jamiroquai sound, it's a certain mr Kay. I dont know anything about the police but i do know that Sting was the lead singer. That would mean getting rid of Jay in terms of jamiroquai. That definately would destroy the jamiroquai sound :(

@jamiroquai01fan You are completely right. Zender made a great addition to the JMQ sound, but so did the other bass players. They all have different styles what makes it difficult to compare them. I bet a lot of people would have gotten bored with them if they stayed the same crew/sound over all those years. Change is necessary for band to survive.
