He's right in the pocket. If you will notice, he isn't exceeding his avail. headroom. (usually with most digi gear you have about 4 db of headroom.) agreed though, if he is going to send the track to master software he should eliminate all headroom presence.
the clip indicator is lit before he plays any audio... And if he's showing you level changes (esp. visually) it's bound to peak at some point... get over it!
Stundek, no you can't assign a group on the master or the master fader to a group. Why would one want to anyway? it's the master fader you want total control of that master fader. Peace
Not exactly you can set the red clip to 1.infinity, this lets the red clip stay forever up. 2. you can set it for 3seconds, where when the red clip hit it will stay for 3seconds and disappear, then 3. you can set it up where it will only hit in the red and disappear just as fast and the level bar leaves. Infinity you would have to click it with the mouse. I use the 3second motion.
he is demonstrating.. this is not about clipping...recording..mastering...its about flexible routing capabilities in protools.. if you already know about clipping and headroom you would not be asking such a question. by the way he was raising the volume considerably. dont mean to sound like a dick.. :P

Hey all you know it alls, shut up and take a lesson

Pro Tools cherries are meaningless. You're not peaking out you still have like 20 db of headroom.
SYSDmg 4 years ago
Umm... how loud is too loud?....thats rhetorical.... you want a small amount of headroom for mastering
Captnuendo 4 years ago
^5 Exactly you are 100% right! I don't know some of these guys really don't know protools nor know what they are doing.

whats up with that clip on the master! i thought that was a no no!!!
kastout 5 years ago
It is a no no, in protools the little red part stays lit if it clips once, you have to click it to make it disappear.
