@seancoppinger friend lock sucks. you have it set. i wrote you a long nice letter and hit send. nope friend lock. fucking friend lock is gay lol. but this is 6 year old footage and gay. see new vids in the mts. on horses in real samurai armors. see this is 9 video. numbered. only watch vids after 98. new armors. new hd. new editing skills new locations. most on mts or on volcanos. i do real aks. real guns. airsoft too. wilderness survival and extreme sports. see vid 150 and 151 for bad ass armor
no problem. i dont drink alcohol. lol. i used to but i think it makes people act gay so i stopped drinking. i see drunk people now and i just shake my head lol
This is a great video, I think its more informative than mine. You are very good at getting you point across I know this is a old vid but its good. This shows how ninjutsu practitioners are differant in some ways so we are not like robots. Thank you for sharing jason.
the room has come far. all furniture and couches i get rid of one at a time and realize i dont need furniture in living room and turn it into my dojo cause last summer i had tons of fun training and i was like when winter comes i cant go out much to train so i have to make home into dojo/japan musuem. now i love to be at my house. lol thanks
I seriously enjoyed this video and yes mountainous you are right that taijutsu is a dynamic art in which every individual has his or her own style. I have trained under 3 shihan as well and I totally agree with your perceptions of the bujinkan. Hope to see more!!!
Gyokko Ryu: 玉虎流. "Jewel Eye Tiger" is not correct. 玉 means "jade, precious stone, or gem," not "jewel eye." If someone told you that, they are incorrect. The six ryu you are talking about were not "samurai" schools; they are the foundation of the ninja clans and five of them were held by the Toda Clan from c.1630 up until Takamatsu's time. These five so-called "samurai schools" that were held by Toda were Gyokko Ryu, Koto Ryu, Togakure Ryu, Shindenfudo Ryu, and Gyokushin Ryu.
orovalleydude... your wrong, gyokku ryu means jeweled tiger school...and the ryu covered in the buji-jinen-genbukan arnt all ninjutsu schools, they are ninja and samurai schools combined...
I concur with ninjiujitsu, Jeweled Tiger is the accepted translation of Gyokko ryu. Honestly: Gem, Jewel, Jade, some sort of precious ore and it really seems like nit-picky semantics. :) But those schools were not "originally" ninjutsu schools, which makes since. Ninja didn't focus primarily on battlefireld techniques. You can see that in the stark contrast of technical feeling between 2 ryu like Togakure and Kukishinden.
sorry there is no order in which i have to show. i know fudoza and sieza. i am not teaching kneeling kamae. i do know alot more kamae like bobi no kamae and others. there is no order. this is a old video with old cam
for ichimonji no kamae isnt you hand sapposed to be closer to your cheek so it helps protect you rips and face thats what i have read from the ninja and their secret fighting art by stephen k. hayes who trained with hatsumi sensei privately
hi, kamae does mean a stance and foundation but one should not think that legs have to be a exact number of feet apart or that hand has to be 2 inches from this body part. these kamae need to be able to come alive and also feel comfortable to the indivdual. from 3 teachers and 2 states in bujinkan i see sanshin look different and slight differenced in kamae. it depends on the ryu ha too. i a have seen 2 5th dan do kamea and slight differences. that is the beauty of taijutsu. hope that helps
i see i didnt know that thanks can u please tell me at what kyu will i need the first forms and katas or are instructors free to put whatever they like on the curriculum(within reason)
that is up to your shidoshi. i dont want to step on anyones toes. some bujin no follow a rank ciricullum that is universal and some do there own thing. i knew all 5 sanshin at first in 91. and kihon. now some schools have a sanshin and kihon for each rank and rolling starts 2 handed then one then no handed. it depends on the school. your instructor will have to answer that ok. out of respect to you teacher and his guidelines. ok?
ok thanks for the advice i didnt know that though so with the 9 ryu theres variations of style? hmm ill be sure to ask him if theres any particular ryu were concentrating on other than the whole different ryu by year that all the dojos follow once again thanks
for example gyokko ryu is jewel eye tiger and it has circular movements and your front foot is not aimed at the attacker it is angled. and other ryu use linear movement. 6 ryu are samurai and 3 are ninja or ninpo. hatsumi origanally taught tokagure ryu ninpo when stephen hayes began with him. now it is called bujinkan budo taijutsu and bujikan is divine warrior spirit and budo is warrior path and taijutsu is skill of body. so budo taijutsu is samurai and ninja arts.
im doing bujinkan(ireland) but im a little confused in most of the stances isnt the front leg bent? like isnt it knee over foot from the front not the back?
very little. it depends on the kamae. some are recieving kamae. some are like you say too. but ichi, ju, hicho, etc most weight is on the rear leg and the front leg has a slight bend. that is why on mutodori unarmed vs sword you learn in beginning of bujin training you can go to hicho from ichi or ju because weight is most on rear leg. you just raise the leg to hicho.
cool and i have seen some bujinkans sanshin no kata use different strikes and stuff too. i trained in 2 states and with 3 shidoshi in 6 years. so some things are different some because in bujin you have 9 ryu. some schools focus on gyokko ryu more and some togakure ryu etc... so just cause different doesnt mean it is wrong. but i would ask him. but ichi and hicho are for sure weight on back leg. but using kamae in sanshin you do shift back and forth from both legs. i hope that helps
i know that they are alive and flowing. i have been in bujin when i was 18 at 1991. i have been involved in and out of class since i was 13 which is 23 years ago. i know nagara and bringing kamae to live. also kamae still means stance. ok!!!
In Togakure, the body is leaning back and inward. In Gyokko, it is more compact and central. In Togakure, the rear hand defends the neck in shuto (as if holding shuko). In Gyokko, it sits just above the extended arm's elbow in boshiken. In Togakure, the front foot faces inward by 45 degrees. In Gyokko, it is straight. These are the only two schools to use these kamae. Other similar kamae may be saiyu seigan or bobi, but are NOT ichimonji.
It's slapupchrist, here. Please turn off that annoying noise (music?). You really do need to explain this better, Mountainous. For example, Ichimonji no Kamae is only seen in Gyokko Ryu and Togakure Ryu. In both cases, it is done with the rear foot at 45 degrees to the forward angle (never at 90 degrees to the front).
thanks for the advice. i am not using music anymore and if i do i just learned how to control volume of music. i may redo a vid like this or remove all bujin vids. thanks
chcck out my sanchin video it is similiar and kihon happo is 8 basic techniques i will do soon and it is live and you will see what you are looking for
you should probably point out that kamae of budo taijutsu are not static. They are postures you move through. as a yonkyu you should already know the importance of fluidity in waza.
oh I think what you are doing is great. I teach taijutsu myself. Although it's adapted for modern aplication. We call it Tente-ryu jutaijutsu. Did you train directly under hatsumi? My teacher was Shihan Prather. But i'm not with the Bujinkan anymore It's good you started back up. Training cleans the soul.
no i havent formally trained for 3 years but i had 6 years experience. my teachers were rick spangler in illinois. and mark vandehey in oregon. both 9th dan now. mark goes to japan regularly to train with hatsumi and senior instructors in japan. i am solo training and going to lead a small self defense class in musuem activity room on mt hood were i live starting soon. i also follow choson dtg he has page on youtube chosonninja user name. thanks for writing

you've got the kamae in the wrong order, you should start in fudoza, (sitting down) then work through the standing kamae (ichimonji, hicho etc)
