It's a glitch. Use an overhead chop attack, hold R right after to get into the shield position (can't be Z-targeting for this to work), and stab while in shield position. Each stab will be as strong as the chop attack of the weapon you chopped with. Like Biggoron Sword, Deku Sticks when you're a kid. It's legitimate boss quick kill tactics.

Why didn't you jump slash earlier? The crouch stab copies the power of the last attack whether it hit or not. You could jump when he's falling and save yourself a few milliseconds if speedruns are your thing.

the shield stab is equal to the power of the last attack, so jump slashing him and then stabbing him is like jump slashing him over and over; it makes all the bosses so easy lol

not a cheat, you can do it yourself. AND, you can see how, he has 9 light arrows.. uses 1, and then has 8 all the way to the end of the battle. So he didnt throw in a death scene.

This entire game can be beat in less than an hour actually. Skip 7 of the temples with the early light arrow glitch and use bottle to deflect... =/
