He hasn't proved anything! The NME famously had a front cover that said "here's three chords now go start a band" when punk popped up in the 70's. It's a fact surely.

True, but the man actually put the theory to the test with music - and successfully!
Of course, him being an amazingly talented musician to begin with would play a part in that.

@dangermackie Except it didn't. The drawing actually originally appeared in December 1976 in the fanzine 'Sideburns.
