all cymbal companies make good and bad cymbals, ive got paiste, zildjians, meinl, sabian, dream, stagg, wuhan etc. some hate zildjian because they sound so familiar, and paiste because they are very distinctive/complex sounding

Dude have you actually tried other cymbals or what? because zildjian & sabian make just as good cymbals as paiste . Go for the sound you want & that will help you decide on what brand to play but dont think that one brand is better than another, because they are all good & your entitiled to your opinion on what you like but dont limit yourself because tommorow sabian or mienl or zildjian might make something that blows you away.

i been playing 15 years bud. i worked at guitar center. i've played jazz and funk as well as brutal death metal. i know what i like and i gotta say one of my favorite rides is the hand hammer raw bell dry ride by sabian, but still i think sabian and zildjian are too focused. like one certain series is designed strictly for a certain genre. not saying paiste didn't make rudes strictly for metal, but paiste signatures are the perfect variety and mix.

Derek Roddy really is an amazing drummer.  He is a great death metal drummer and he is crazy fast. But I love how he doesn't limit himself to death metal drumming, he is expanding to jazz and funk inspired rhythms and it's really just awesome.

Don't know what it's called since I'm self-learned and don't know shit about musical terms, but it's a triplet pattern that goes bassdrum-hihat-hihat-bassdrum hihat-hihat... on his left foot while his right foot keeps a common 4/4 pattern that goes bassdrum-hihat-bassdrum-hihat and so on. I can't play it, but then again I haven't practiced it at all:P
