i side with the 5.0 coyote guy, i had the same idea. they can use a T-56 vette trany so it should good up to the transaxle with little to no modification
What kind of exhaust is that car running? It sounds incredible. Im always curious where people get exhausts for these cars. I can never tell if they are custom exhausts or already made just for this car
@t2bt2b While I agree with your choice of a high rev engine as well.... and while normally I love Japanese cars... in all fairness.... the LS7 is freaking witchcraft. 500+ hp, and you get over 30mpg. Plus considering that you get a dry sump system built in... the LS7 is an AMAZING bargain.
Seems like nice car.. 500HP in such a light car would be like 800HP in mine.. I would love to build one someday.. Def would want to run at least 700HP since the new LS engine like LS3, LS7, LSA, & LS9 can take that all day long
Correct only discovered that ford has stepped up to the plate. Those v8 engine with single overhead cams is outdated technology. The SHO is a nice engine but the coyote is even nicer. A mk4 roadster with the coyote engine would be superb.
Now that Ford is making the new 5 litre engine,I wonder if this car kit might be offered in the future with a choice of that engine as well as the chevy. I think the Coyote engine could be a good fit with the rest of the FFR line.
Thanks for the quick response .I am seriously looking at one of these kit cars. But need an efficient (3200cc ) small block v8....Tending towards to the mk4 roadster

Americans are pretty wastefull 7000cc? What miles per gallon do you get with such a big engine? Does having such a light body result in sensible mpgs?
@Hectectica and those cars have what 2,000 miles service intervals? and a life expectancy of 50,000 miles? my pushrod chevrolet v8 (pickup) currently has 225,000 miles on it, and the only thing i've ever had to replace was a noise lifter... albeit that is part of the pushrod engine design, i'd rather replace a 30 dollar lifter over a 1000 dollar camshaft.
Unless you've got something special under that hood, I doubt your pushing the horsepower of those cars. And where are you getting this 50,000 mile life expectancy from?
@Hectectica have you ever in your entire life seen a ferrari or lambo which hasn't had a complete head rebuild at over 50,000 miles? look around they have always required a complete top end job well before the 100,000 mark. as far as power, no my stock chevy does not, my ranchero I built in highschool however dynoed at around 460hp and I drove the helll out of it without any problems.
I'm looking up what you claim, and I can't seem to find anything that supports it. All of the forums & websites I have browsed seem to state them as decently reliable assuming you take care of it and don't drive very hard, which is true for any car. But that doesn't mean your wrong...I'll keep looking.
As for your ranchero, what engine was in it? And what do you define as driving the hell out of it?
@BAJANCHAMELEON a 7L corvette gets better gas mileage then most european cars with non turbo similar power and smaller engines so bigger is better. not sure why a zo6 and this thing here have about the same mileage though?
@BAJANCHAMELEON umm 7000 CC isn't that big for an american car. Heck my old ranchero I drove around in high school was available in a 5800 , 6600, and 7500 CC
@BAJANCHAMELEON Dont make such blatant comments about Americans not all Americans are the same and what is wrong with wanting a powerful car. There is nothing wrong with buying a powerful car if you have the money to do so.
@BAJANCHAMELEON I don't see many European or Asian sports cars able to crank out 500+hp and can still manage to return over 25mpg. Most of them are lucky to get 20mpg falling downhill, in neutral, with a stiff tailwind. 7.0L has little to do with being wasteful when I've seen factory 2.0L turbo 4's that can barely manage 20mpg over level ground. It is what you do with the "cubes" that matters.
@BAJANCHAMELEON What's 'sensible mpgs'? Is 'sensible' determined by liberal environmental policy? Custom-built vehicles represent a TINY proportion of the vehicles on the road, and for those who don't agree with them, there's plenty of 'sensible' cars with 'sensible mpgs' - even in America now. The LS3 (Corvette base engine) is now available in Eco-rod guise, which even passes California's world-class liberal goals with zero modifications. You go live 'sensible', I have no objection to it.
@BAJANCHAMELEON The Corvette LS6 engine often put in GTMs is 5.7 liters and produces approx 30 mpg at legal highway speeds. The GTM is lighter than a Corvette, so could conceivable better that. Advanced technology produces great mpg with great performance, regardless of higher displacement - especially with tall gears and 'sensible' driving. It's false to automatically assume big displacement means lousy fuel economy. Displacement-to-economy technology is far more evolved than you think.
It's a beautiful car. Though when he takes it on the test drive, the (front) hood has a fitment problem with the passenger side A-pillar that just looks kit-like.
But it's the car that Chevy should be building. Mid-engine, beautiful, exotic and forward- rather than retro-looking.
I really commend these guys. I do wish that there was a way to put a Porsche 997 TT engine in there, or some other DOHC higher rev'ing engine in there. I just don't understand why Corvettes stick with pushrod designs.
@t2bt2b The reason that GM stuck with the pushrod design is that they get the most benefit of both simplicity in design as well as power delivery. They did build a DOHC 32 valve motor for the C4 Vette, but in the end were able to get more power and lower weight,as well as better reliability for a significant savings with a major redesign of the older motor. For all the faults that GM is well known for, their engineers aren't one of them when they're given a chance to show what they can do.
@theycallmeknives1 just wait for the pushrod 32valve heads to catch on. ford started it off with they're truck so chevy will be on that soon:) i cant wait.
@t2bt2b Sometimes just doing something "new" and or "popular", like going MR or using DOHC engines, just can't replace doing what works and doing it better the next time around.
@t2bt2b because GM are so far behind compared to high tech german engineering or italians. but yea ur right i never noticed the poor fitment of that A pillar looks so cheap. i almost went for one thank god i realised that on time.
I've seen this exact car in person and video and photos do not do it justice. It's gorgeous and the yellow paint has a metallic flake that is just beautiful!
I would like to know if your ever going to be able to order the whole kit minus the GM parts but to include the engine and transmission from Factory Five? This would help guys trying to buy this wonderful work of art do one stop shopping. i do plan to buy one as a retirement present to myself for doing 20 years of service in the USAF. So save one for me!!!
@brotherbax now i dont know if they will ever have a complete car, my guess is no. but Factory Five sells any part you would want on the car. The new transaxle should be available soon, the E-rod LS-3 i saw for sale on their website, and i have seen packages on Ebay for the rest of the parts needed for the car though i didnt happen to look for a price. i've just joined the US Army myself and i want a GTM too lol

I actually completely love this car in yellow. I'm considering renting out a shop/garage for 6 ~ 12 months and ordering one of these kits...
If I went with an LS3, I wonder if the GTM chassis would accommodate a twin turbo setup...

Plenty of nations realize the benefit of a large displacement engine. :)
