My best friend (then boyfriend) one time did a standard toss in the band hall and it hit the projector.....then the flag hit me right in the face....he wanted to see if he could toss it really high and catch it...
1 had to toss a hilt 6 on a sabre missed and it hit straight onto my wrist, a week ago its blue purple and bruised, and in a but load of pai, i did that a week ago

I was in guard in high school and my first year I was practicing triples with the flag and I just happen to catch one wrong. It hit the palm of my hand below my thumb but above my wrist. I ended up shattering 3 bones in there just from the force. The next day I got a cast and went right back to it. It was worth it, even then. The only injuries I take pride in is when they are from something as fun as that. Take pride in your bumps and bruises. It's all worth it! Good luck in the future. :D

I tossed it and the rifle came down and smacked my right pointer finger fracturing it. But i kept going till we were done. And after practice my finger was blank and blue! And guess what? I still did a competition that Sat! It wasnt my best performance but everyone said it was great for having a fractured finger. I was proud of myelf lol

oh i so know what its like to injure your self while your practicing during the first time i lernt how to do a forty-five on flag i got a huge bruise on my head because i hit my head it hurt for two weeks
one morning my assistant instructor and I were trying to toss the sabre to each other, and he tossed a six, it rainbow'd and hit one of our seniors square in the crown. she had to get six staples, and there was blood everywhere. shit was so crazy.

oh girl i have done that plenty of times but try it from doing a quad..now that hurt and i have done a double with a paralel and that left a mark..its guard and well you have to make mistakes to what you need to work on..hope she is okay

OMFG, these are the punishments that come with guard. GEE! Idk where your from, but down here every summer theres a camp called 'Music in Motion' (M&M) and it was my first camp, i was just starting, it was like 2 years ago, and in the middle of my performance, i was doing a quad on my sabre and the tip went right into the bridge of my nose, icheewowa. yah, it was so embarassing and it hurt. I think everybody in guard feels your pain.

well,since it was my first year i did Inter. flag. Beg, rifle. and Adv. Sabre. I pretty much fell in love with sabre and was amazing at it. yah, i dint do the lake mary, not to sure where that is? haha. But my guard recently los our sponser and we couldnt find another one, sooo guard at our school is no longer here, they turned it into stupid baton. Tards, yah---but im very into guard and still practice at home, cant get enough of it :-D

haha i like how the sound is in tempo with the music. lol hearing all these guard injury stories reminds me of a comp where a member did a regular single on flag and she hit her head, but didnt think anything of it. at the end of part one i get lifted and underneath me i hear:
Tiffany your bleeding!
What no I'm not.
Yes you are!
they argued until we went off the field to sit while the band plays, when we're done she raises her hand and says
"Can i get a band-aid?" lol imagine that picture!

haha im only in middle school.. but ive had worse than that.. i had to do a double turn around on riffle got it the FIRST time but then i kinda had a concussion the second time but im in love with weapons.. its soooo much fun my coach said im better than most of her VARSITy guard members.. which is cool and all.. i have a natural talent :D

Don't worry one time I tossed a 6 (not expecting to) and decided to run away instead of catch it and it hit the concrete and bounced right onto my foot. Couldn't walk for 2 days. Heh.

one morning my assistant instructor and I were trying to toss the sabre to each other, and he tossed a six, it rainbow'd and hit one of our seniors square in the crown. she had to get six staples, and there was blood everywhere. shit was so crazy.

oh girl i have done that plenty of times but try it from doing a quad..now that hurt and i have done a double with a paralel and that left a mark..its guard and well you have to make mistakes to what you need to work on..hope she is okay

Sweetie if u think that hurt then some of my stories would b awful. One of my girls had to do a quad with her rifle as our first move n she missed it n hit her forhead. Had a knot the size of a golf ball instanly. Then another time 2 girls did a sabre exchange n 1 missed n ssliced her month open.

You think that is bad? I had a sabre exchange and she didn't catch it. The sabre bounced off the floor and back at my head. I got a knot about a FULL INCH coming out.
I had to get a cat scan just to make sure I did not have a concussion.
And now I have permanently damaged my muscle in my forehead. Maybe it time it will heal... I hope.

ouch! that would hurt so bad. iv never been hit with a rifle before but i smack myself in the head with my flag all the time it hurts so bad, i did a crank once and it smacked the bone on my ankle right before we go on at halftime for the football game, i was limping the whole show, and i dropped my flag on my head and started bleeding.

OMFG, these are the punishments that come with guard. GEE! Idk where your from, but down here every summer theres a camp called 'Music in Motion' (M&M) and it was my first camp, i was just starting, it was like 2 years ago, and in the middle of my performance, i was doing a quad on my sabre and the tip went right into the bridge of my nose, icheewowa. yah, it was so embarassing and it hurt. I think everybody in guard feels your pain.

Yes M&M Ive been there the past two years at the Lake Mary camp what classes did you take? My first year I was in Adv. Rifle, Inter. Lyrical dance, and flag. My second year I did Elite Rifle, Adv. Sabre and lyrical dance.

well,since it was my first year i did Inter. flag. Beg, rifle. and Adv. Sabre. I pretty much fell in love with sabre and was amazing at it. yah, i dint do the lake mary, not to sure where that is? haha. But my guard recently los our sponser and we couldnt find another one, sooo guard at our school is no longer here, they turned it into stupid baton. Tards, yah---but im very into guard and still practice at home, cant get enough of it :-D
