Oh snap! That's funny you got a scar...I got the same using some cheap but ok sounding pro25's from radio shack! I used them to track & reference between speakers...but yeah. The Yamaha NS10's were made famous because they sound shitty. So if you can make them sound great, through mixing skills, than your mix will shine in any speaker system. Moral of story? Perfect your mixing skills & your beats will sound good ANYWHERE! Trust me kid, it's not easy, hella work but the payoff is love...One.
What happens with the Nady ones is that they are open air headphones. Many headphones are designed to have little sound leak so people can record or wear them on public places without having to let know people what youre listening to. Open headphones never cared about that, its designed for a healthy air ventilation and some say its also about spatialization...
if u make a beat with good headphones and it sounds shit in ipods then u need to find headphones where what u hear is what u get nomatter what u play it from hifi or ipod or mp3 player it should sound the same thats when u know u have great headphones
i need to get some monitors i was gunna buy some studio monitores but the cheapest ones like the real small ones around 123 dolla a set do you think 2 sets would be good enough to hear youre music pound or buy big speackers that arnt studio mons but are bigger and louder ?
i kind of disagree when you say the sennheiser's don't make your music sound good. they make music sound amazing and the way its supposed to sound. like you said they might not have bass boost in them but they are plenty bassy and hit the low notes clearly. they just dont emphasize/dull out any frequencies like consumer head phones do. they play true sound. so if your mix is right, they sound amazing.
@sml2238 that's EXACTLY what I meant by they don't make them sound good.. literally. Like, the headphones don't make the song sound better than it actually is.
@NefTheDamaja yupp. same goes for hifi speakers and monitors. i actually prefer the sound of monitors over hifi unless the song sucks.
btw i wanted to ask you. how r the rp6's? loud enough? i like to jammm out sometimes. im thinking of getting rp6's and a ikey 10" sub. or i can get the ikey 8" monitors for the same price as the rp6's. i heard ikeys were almost identical to the rockits. any info on this would be great. thanks bro.
american audio hp700 sound really good for mixing and playback. they also come with two different sets of covers. leather and velvet covers so your ears don't sweat. good low pass and the highs are really clear.
Thanks for posting this, I was trying to choose between the same models of Sennheiser and Ultrasone for my personal listening, and based on your review I think I'll go with the Ultrasone.
i guess you can do videos like this when you go to Expressions.... ol famous ass nigga. lmao. nah. good ish duke. I got the Sennheiser jawns, but you already knew that. if ppl looking at getting monitors PLEASE do yourself a favor and the Yamaha HS 80M. They run about $900 for a set. good investment tho.
what about the dr dre monster beats head phones...those are my fav headphones so far no nose .i cant even hear my self talk when i have them on. the bass is amazing and the sound is crazy good. even jermaine dupri uses them when he's useing the mpc. and i like the over all look of them.
@DERRICKKNIGHT70 The Beats headphones are terrible for monitoring to be honest. They have a large mid-bass emphasis and that's not good for pure monitoring in itself. Compared to other $200 or $300 headphones, the Beats are inferior for monitoring purposes. Most artists who use the Beats headphones are only using them for advertising or for general listening purposes.
i mix on my monitors and use headphones to see what it would sound like on different systems since the people who are listening to your music most likely wont have monitors.
The HD280pros are great headphones but they are fragile. I had a pair and kept mine for like 4 years and after about 2 years they started falling apart. Just outta curiousity Nef how long you been making beats?
maybe its kuz im cheap then lol. I finally let them go a year ago I bought them in 2003. So they lasted a while but I bought some cheap JVCs that have lasted me also. Sometimes cheap headphones work well also if you know how to mix. And if you buy these get the warranty people. It really is worth it
i follow yours videos, im from argentina, my english its realy bad hehe, but just im wanna say you're good producer hip hop music, i like it your jobs, follow your channel.. bless, byee.
My favorite pair of headphones so far are the Sony MDR-7506. What's cool is they come with a diagram that show different parts so I guess in theory if something breaks you should be able to fix them.
