The guy who sells this movie is the man who filmed it. He was going shooting footage for what was to become Uncle Meat but Zappa ran short of cash and he retained ownership of his footage..cool trippy DVD if you can find it
The album cover of "Uncle Meat" has the Mothers' actual dental X-rays photos, showing their rotten, deasesed teeth. Real deal, original freakazoids, true pioneers.
This guy was far superior to his sixties peers, he could write a really melodic sixties pop song if he wanted that was better than most groups who based a career on it and in turn stuff like this that is easily on a par with Eric Dolphy or John Coltrane yet even more insane.
This looks like Ray Favata's work. He shot them using a 16mm Bolex used for animation. Sometimes he would double expose the film to get multiple images. I don't see much rehearsing here.
I think the music of the first decade of the 2000s would be alot more enjoyable to listen to, because his music is always ahead of the times and has an indirect influence on society.
Are you havin' a laugh? I don't know where you've been hiding out, but get hold of some FZ, then maybe, just maybe..you may be qualified to judge, FZ spans a wide variety of genres, and has over 80 albums in his cannon!
i agree but also bands now in days dont have the technical ability to plays songs this complex which is sad. also i dont know how much further out a person can go to create music like this.
Listen to Civilization Phase III, The Yellow Shark and Everything Is Healing Nicely and I think you would get a pretty good idea where he was heading musically. What's more interesting is how he would have made use of all the technology and computer aided music machinery that's available today.
The recording is from "Uncle Meat" a mostly instrumental album from 1968. The second half was recorded on a flat bed in the middle of Gulfstream Park in 1968 and features the Underwood/Zappa Ramifications.
The actual concert was a precursor to Woodstock.
Unfortunately the sound cuts out just after the Good Humor Trunk adaptation of King Kong and the live section is NOT included.
Who would FZ vote for?

If Frank hadn't have died of cancer, he would have died from today's pathetic "puke music".
charlessavarese 3 years ago 10
no he would have taken a stand against it like he did with PMRC and the music censorship douchebags and won that one too!

I mean, if he hadn't died, of course.

Yeah, seriously. Listen to Frank Zappa, then listen to Chris Brown. This is the tripe that passes for music.
