  • use oatmeal, it softens the skin

  • This soap looks okay but soapqueentv explains it better

  • im confused.....what are they making?

  • ummm your not supposed to put food coloring in soap its rubs off on your skin and leaves colors on you. Also you should use fragrance oils not essential oils... right?

  • @patsyrosie essential oils or more natural

  • their shirts are the same style..

    and lololwaht

  • not gonna lie the chick in the blue is pretty hot!..

  • This is MAKING soap? In that case, here's another tutorial: How to make butter. Take unsalted butter, melt it, add shit, stir, allow to cool, BOOM- you've made butter, bitches.

  • where can i get the glycerin?

  • @Reayeol you can get it from hobby lobby or michaels

  • this is awesome! the colored layers turned out so pretty!

  • Anyone else bothered by her lisp?

  • coffee beans in soap?? o_O im trying to wash my hands not dirty them more??

  • @rafael29921 coffee beans are actually good for your skin and it would expholiate your skin :3

  • @LoLiTaViSoN yeah it would maybe buh i only wash my hands once not twice in a row :3

    ........

  • several mistakes:

    1. it's not just a glycerin - it's a soap BASE with glycerin

    2. she didn't use alcohol to remove bubbles

    3. never put soap into the fridge - it will crack

  • @stasyschneider she obviously didn't learn much from her chemistry classes.

  • @stasyschneider thing is, i thought she was going to MAKE soap. this ain't making soap. This is coloring soap.

  • @stasyschneider well than how do you harden the soap

  • @cupcakecrazy98 leave it out on the counter and it will harden itself.

  • @stasyschneider i think they only put the melted soap in the fridge to set it so it wouldn't mix with the next few layers they added

  • Comment removed

  • What kind of soap did they melt?!?

  • I MISS YOU GUYS! I WANT ROB, MEG and CORRINE back!

  • LOL Take that, Lush! Your'e not going to rip me off!

  • ... doesnt the foodcoloyring dye your skin? :S

  • Does D.I.Y stand for Do it yourself, or Decor it yourself?

  • @giggles90gfy It stands for "do it yourself" :)

  • Can you find blocks of soap in the UK or can you grate a bar of soap

  • Excuse me, where could I buy that? : )

  • What I think is funny about people who comment on threadbanger vids is that they automatically assume that the person is a professional in what they are doing. It is do it yourself. Most of the things you see on here is just someone trying out different ideas. Never assume that the people on here are experts. Go read into the project that you are watching t make sure its done the right way. Otherwise, just saying the diy-er is dong it wrong isn't going to do much.

  • @kitihirosaki As far as I know, the only person that is actually linked to threadbanger that can be considered an expert in what they are showing is Secretlifeofabionerd since, if I understand correctly, she is going to school for fashion.

  • coffe beans would be awesome but acorns and metal stuff?...yeah i definatly want to rub my skin with that or pick out gross pieces of magazines

  • Superb. I really enjoyed this. Thank you

  • where did you get the soap blocks??? :)

  • IF you want to make " REAL" soap, then study all the videos on doing cold process , or hot process soap making. Melt and Pour soap is really not good for anything except decoration. Depending on what brand you buy its full of things that aren't that great for your skin. All your dong is melting what they already made and adding food coloring. Thats not real soap making. It's hobby soap making. Those that really wanna learn I again stress take the time and learn cold process.

  • @Txshizzle

There is Melt and Pour soap that is all natrual. Its not just a hobby. I think the harsh Lye is far worse

  • @Nicholereaves no soap can be made with out lye. Melt and Pour Soap contains lye as well. Once the lye saponifies it's no longer lye it becomes something else entirely and leaves us with a mild soap bar. Most melt and pour contains chemicals and other preservatives, there are some brands of Melt and Pour that are far better than others, personally I prefer making it completely from scratch myself. Again this is just my opinion and I'm not knocking anyone that loves to do melt and pour.

  • Oh wow, this is one of the worst soap tutorials I have ever seen, lol. Never add anything that contains water (I.E. Fresh Fruit). It will mold!!! I would suggest watching the soap queen's (from brambleberry) youtube videos if you really want to learn how to do this stuff the right way (AND SAFELY). She has tons of high quality videos specifically designed to start from level one soaping and moves up from there. She even teaches how to make real lye soap. :)

  • won't food coloring stain your skin??

  • @yummyfaliciousDOTcom Food coloring is NOT good for soap making. To color your soaps its much better to use Micas and Oxides, or quite a few other colors you can make yourself from natural products like beet juice for example

  • Meg is really pretty but her facial expressions are so obnoxious.

  • yea people please use soap coloring... food coloring will bleed on your skin. and you have to spray alcohol on it for air bubbles and for the next layer to adhere.

  • It's so funny to make soap!

You can personalize as much as you want. <3

    I've made heart-soaps :D

  • where do i buy the soap stuff?

  • @CLS89 craft stores, maybe walmart.

  • Second Part: so it can adhere to the other layer or otherwise it will not stick to the other layer.

Bobbie Thomas needs to learn more about melt and pour soap.

  • First, your not supposed to use fresh fruits or vegetables.

Second, food coloring is not a good option to color your soaps,it bleeds and morphs.

Third, don't embed things that will cut you or your child will eat.

Fourth, you just don't cut images out of anywhere, you have to use a special paper that is water soluble for that.

Fifth, you have to spray the soap with alcohol to eliminate bubbles.

Sixth, before you add another layer of soap you have to spray the bottom layer with alcohol so it can

  • I can use borax glycerin?

  • So by this video, you are basically saying, that Glycerin is soap?

apart from coloring and adding scents, i saw no other useful additions.

  • floating things in your soap, might be nice for decoration, but a horror when it comes to actually using your soap.

  • cool idea...but i don't like to use the food stuff and the soap stuff together...

  • The beans in the soap are too big, the colors you chose aren't beautiful !!

  • FYI, you can totally use rigid molds made of glass or metal or hard plastic. In order to get the soap out easily you just have to put the mold in the freezer for about ten or 15 minutes. Take it out of the freezer, let it stand for a few minutes and when condensation builds up the soap will slide right out of the mold. Cheers!

  • in a book i have "dollar store decor" they used just plain sop from the dollar store!

  • i should totally do this for mother's day

  • What happens to the beans as you use the soap? lol

  • when you guys going to be on tv! love you all!

  • one ugly soap :s

  • where can you buy glycerin like that?

  • pavillions or drug stores

  • ok, thank you : )

  • @SlytherinChild alot of craft stores have it around the candle stuff

  • @bookworm13130 thanks I'll go check it out : )

  • Also - please do not put your fragranced soap into the fridge, even if you cover it it will make everything taste of soap.

  • I like the concept but next time grind the coffee beans into the soap and mix them in when the base is cool then pour into mold it will be a better exfoliant.

  • shitty music is too loud! Sorry :) Video is still great! Mia

  • I'd love to,but I can't find anywhere that sells glycerin!!I live in Canada,any tips?

  • obviously.I meant couldn't you use those aluminum tins to set the soap once it's been microwaved?

  • It might be better to grind the coffee beans so you don't end up with whole coffee beans all over the place.

  • yea u could melt down already made soap its just the same

and i wouldnt sugest using food coloring it can rub off on ur skin i use soap coloring its cheap and most craft stores sale it

ive been making soap for about a year and its so much fun

  • ohdearjane, NO NO NO! I took your advice, and grabbed a bar of soap, cut it up and through it in the microwave. +_+ curse you, it exploded, burning me, and then when i ran the cup under cold water it hardend sticking to the cup.

-here is another curse for you...may all your bacon burn

  • @Zoozoorck XD that totally sucks. I was thinking about doing it that way too. Your response should be like perma-bumped so people avoid that problem :P

  • @Zoozoorck funny, exactly just how you did that?

  • @akissy Dove soap turns to satan in a bar when you put it in the microwave.

  • hmmm can we just just melt just any regular soap and recreate it out own way? help!! :D

  • would an aluminum tin work?

  • @yaoilittleprincess

    aluminum in the microwave?

    not a agood idea

    aluminum + microwave = FIRE

  • thats a good idea lol i bet people would want to eat it :P

  • You could probably use a silicone muffin pan to make small, individual soaps that you don't have to cut.

  • I love the coffee soap! I'm making it for my mom this Christmas!

  • i like the multi colored one!!!

  • cool

  • i kinda want to eat it :d

  • i know what you mean

  • If you're making layered soap, be sure to spray each layer with alcohol to get rid of air bubbles. It also ensures that the layers will stick .

  • lol id put in a picture of a wolf in the clear one:3

  • i just got interested in making my own shampoo bar, this would work for shampoo to right?

  • what is cheaper?

    making soaps or buying soaps

  • you can melt on the stove or in a crock pot, but you have to watch that it doesn't burn, but who doens't have a microwave??

  • well, my apartment didn't come with one, and I've noticed that it's better not to have one, so that I won't be tempted to buy "microwaveable food", such as Hot Pockets, etc....I love to eat fresh, and I don't want to spend money on a microwave for that small kitchen anyway! lol

  • hey, I don't have a microwave, so would it be safe to heat the glycerin on the stove?

  • It would but you have to be carefulll with it. I recommend using an not need pan.

  • hah i remember my mom used to make me bring home the little plastic desert trays from school, they were the perfect size and were really cool designs :)

  • I LOVE MAKING SOAP

  • i lovee :)

but will the food colouring not come off onto your hands when you get it wet? :s

    X

  • i travel a lot and i keep all of the soaps. do u think it would work if i just melted those? what about glitter? it would work as a scrub and would rinse right off.

  • I love the idea of the coffee beans! I love the smell and feel of coffee (beans) but I can't actually drink it (gives me the shakes and I find it hard to breathe) so this is good for me. Plus, isn't the caffeine used in a bunch of skin care products anyway?

  • i did this the day day after i watched it!it was awesomee!annnnd.....i was thinkin about it, and wondered why not use an empty orange peel! like when its cut in 1/2,you could have a circular soap! :D

  • What a great idea! But if the peel gets wet it might mold? I wonder how easy it would be to peel it off the mold

  • @iCreate28 where did you buy the soap?

  • @iCreate28 that is such a cute idea!!!!

  • What a waste of good coffee beans!

  • I don't think it would work as well as regular soap and i dont think that the coffee beans would do any good, but it would be really cool if you made it rainbow ^_^

  • some of you people are too damn picky.

  • @turnthepage If people weren't "picky" there'd be no advancements in design. personally I though this soap making was a bit of a fail.

  • wow people....you guys keep saying that she took pre-existing soap and just made it into new bars....

It's not "premade" soap. its GLYCERIN!

  • I really love this idea, especially with X-Mas coming up! However, I was wondering if there is a certain way to clean the dishes after use, and are they safe to use again, or would you need a separate melting cup?

  • well, i wouldn't know for sure, but since dishwashing liquid is soap anyway, it could be ok.

  • Yeah, I feel the samy. That was pointless...

  • this was .....

omfg ... so senseless and man

why should i buy soap to make new ugly soap , when i can buy "finished" soap ?!

  • Because... it's "DIY." Meaning... you don't... buy things yourself. You "do it yourself." o.O

  • yeah i know , but first you have to buy "normal" soap ... so it's both the same that u have to buy somethin'

  • Hm. You have a point.

  • Yeah, hold on, let me just get my glycerin-making supplies.

  • I wanted to know how to MAKE soap....not take preexisting soap and make it smell nice. (which it didn't even look like they did for the layered soap. hello, pointless.) Oh well. Threadbanger's target audience appears to be around 16 - 25, but they make their stuff way too easy. Like for 7 - 12 year olds.

  • When I made soap like this when I was twelve. I ADDED GROUND NUTMEG, GROUND CINNAMON, A BIT OF HONEY, AND A BIT OF VANILLA AND IT SMELT EXACTLY LIKE CINNAMON BUN SOAP. It sold out the fastest.

    TRY IT OUT FOLKS. <3

ps. this works best with the goats milk/ milk based soap (the cloudy soap she has above)

if you use coffee beans, they might clog up your drains.

  • I thought for sure she was going to grind up the coffee beans. that would have been excellent. a dusty layer of ground coffee on top of the clear bar, with maybe a bean or 3 for flare. But i bet the smell would be so nice, people would want to eat it lol.

  • ok....i tried making this 2day with my girl guides o.O....sumthing went HORRIBLY wrong o.O...we tried 2 melt the soap, but instead of melting it expanded like crazy and turned almost into a marshmellow....boiling it on the stove didn't work either and we ended up with a burnt soapy mess o.O....i kno how can u burn soap, but we managed it o.O it was disasterous, but we sumhow managed to salvage the whole thing n they made a few bars of glittery pink soap :p but be warned ppl it can go VERY WRONG!

  • maybe you got pre-made soap and not glycerin...?

  • great video, great idea, Meg is great, go Threadbanger!

  • hands down awesome

  • loveeee it !!!

  • Decor it is the most pointless show.

This weeks show should have been called "how to melt soap and add a bunch crap to it", last weeks should have been called "how to drill a hole", and the tiki bar Yeaaa that hasn't been done a thousand times before thank you for once again bringing us nothing original.

Way to fail meg, way to fail.

  • WOW! I love this! The coffe one is amazing!

  • don't think i like all those lumpy coffee beans, wouldn't ground coffee be just as good? Or maybe mix ground coffee into it, and just decorate with a little bit of whole beans.

    liked the striped ones.

I once saw a tv show where a woman put a loofa sponge into a crystal light drink mix cylinder, and poured in the glycerine. she had very pretty round soaps when she sliced it .

  • isn't Bobbie a guys name?

like bobbie is bob and bob is rob and rob is robert

  • yar usually...but if shes called roberta then she cud shorten it 2 bobbie

  • but roberta isnt a name

  • it is there was a girl in my year group called roberta which is the only reason i put the 1st comment...but maybe that ladys name isn't roberta...but it is a name :p

  • Bobby with a "y" is usually short for Robert. Bobbie with an "ie" is for Roberta.

I know a woman named Bobbie.

  • I work with a woman named Bobby, and that is how she spells it. It is also short for Roberta.....

  • it's an unisex name just like Tracy, Dominique, Ryan, etc.

  • This was decorating soap, not making soap.

  • YAY!! More Christmas presents!!!

  • I love,love,love this project!!!

  • This is great! Super simple, too. Looks like I have my next project in line.

    Thanks Meg

  • i like your old into better =(

  • cool!!

  • It looks like candy!

    A lovely idea!

  • love ur ring meg. isit diy?

  • I have been thinking about making soap for a while, and this video really helped me to think that now is about the right time. Thanks!! Looks really cool and would make great holiday gifts!!!

  • I am totally going to do this! Meg & Bobbie are fantastic. <3 <3

  • Her website isn't working :(

  • I'm pretty sure food grade coloring will stain your skin..

  • you always film it so proffesional

sorry for my bad english xD

  • neat video; dumbass belts.

  • Bobbie Thomas is a genius. All of her ideas are always so simple and cute.

  • Bobbie is fantastic, isn't she? Love her!

  • ok i have to say my skin gets really dry with cheap soap so could i add something in there to act as a moisturizer too? ANY HELP APPRECIATED!

    as always great job meg!

  • maybe baby oil might work, its good if you put a few drops in your bath! hope that helps :)

  • Would the food coloring stain your skin?

    ..just wondering

  • xD not unless you drench the soap with the food coloring. Either way it'll wash off real fast. I once dyed my hair with food coloring(don't ask why) and it washed right off as soon as I hit the shower and none of my skin was stained.

  • Would you be able to melt it down in a pot on the stovetop too???

  • yes, stovetop works also,

    microwave is just faster.

  • oh ididnt knwo glycerin comes in solid form i have the liquid one

  • You could probably use silicone muffin pans as a mold also.

  • I'm thinking of buying some Glycerin off of eBay to make some for Christmas..

It is all bought by weight, does anyone know roughly how big those blocks are? Just so I can get an idea of how much I'm actually buying

  • I MAKE SOAP,

    it's rather fun

    (:

    extra tip:

you can also buy a fine shimmer powder, like bon-bon's at any drugstore (yes the 50 cent makeup) and swirl it into the melted glycerin, ALSO if you skip the refrigeration between layers, and move fast- you can take a toothpick or chopstick and swirl the colors together! Try adding a large quantity of epsom salt to the soap- to make an exfoliation bar.

  • booty bar haha

    thats the best

  • I love this girl! Killer dress and fantastic show.

  • most hobby stores stock the glycerin, oils, and molds if you were needing those aswell.

  • where can you buy glycerin?

  • any drug store should have it.

  • thank you!!any clue on a price?would shopper's carry it?

  • michaels craft shoppe sell it

  • That was great. Thanks!

  • i LOOOOVED THIS EPISODE! i am totally inspired to make some soaps. i think the background music is a little loud at some parts, i had to rewind and listen again to what boby was saying.

  • Meg & Bobbie are so cute together! GREAT episode!!! The idea of putting photos and beads in the soap is awesome.

  • What a great episode! Making your own soap is awesome, and you can get so creative with it. Meg's dress is amazing.

  • OMG! I make soap all the time! Yay!

  • that looks yummy but its not so D:

  • looks good enough to eat.. not a good idea .. but it's pritty!! ^^

  • Soooo pretty. The pink, green and light yellow is a great design.

  • Yes, really great color choices.

  • I want rainbow soap! I also wanna eat it, but that might not taste as good as it looks....

  • btw if you use ground coffee then it would be a really good exfoliate.

  • I hate microwave ovens so
