i have the exact same bow and i love it, i just shot it today at 10 15 20 25 30 35 and 40 yards all shooting atleast a 3 inch group, im pulling 44 pounds tho, i have shot so much stuff with my bow i cant even tell u wat ive shot, and maybe its time for a new target
Just an update. JD won the Delaware IBO championships, took 2nd in the Maryland IBO championships. He went to an IBO national and took 4th, then went to the IBO world championship and took 25th. We went to the 4-H state championships two weeks ago. He is 11 now and shooting in the 11 to 14 year old intermediate class. He won both competitions, field and 3-D. He also had the highest scores out of all three classes including the 15-18 year old class. He has come a long way in 4 years.
great shootin kid, but dad when he draws back dont let him look like robin hood and slowly bring the bow down as he draws. at any point there he could accidentally release and shoot the arrow very far. instead have him slowly bring it up its far less dangerous and helps with form
We went to the state 4-H match. He shot a 339 out of 360 for FITA field for 1st place in the state. He also shot 3-D and took 2nd in the state.
If you can't get the peep sight in take it to a shop with a press. You will want to have it served in (tied in) after it is placed in the string. Good luck with archery, it is a lot of fun. Don't be ashamed of using the same bow. It is a great bow, I shot it during a league this summer.
nice, dude. i feel a bit ashamed cause im 30 years old and using the same bow..but i just started archery... just dont know how to put in the peep sight.. ((
Update: He won a youth 3-D tournament back in May, out of 18 shooters. He will be going to the 4-H state competition on October 8th & 9th. He shot a 182 on a 20 target 3-D course from the hunters stake (not youth) 3 weeks ago, and finished 7th out of 16 in an adult archery league in August. His equipment is now a 50lb Mission Maniac, QAD dropaway, Extreme sight, and GT arrows. We are now getting ready for the hunting season. Looking at going to the IBO shoots next year.
the wind makes your talking kindof inaudiable and i love kids who have a love of archer like i did.. and those are some VERY nice shots so congratz and keep up the good work
I know this video is quite old, but his draw length there is a little to short.
I guess its personal preference, but it looks like hed like to anchor just behind his cheek because of the way hes moving his head forward to get on the string.
He is an excellent shooter. Im in the 9th grade with the razor edge bow and it is set on 55 lbs and he shoots better than i have ever thought about shooting. Great Job!
At that time he was shooting 30 pounds. He is up to 40 pounds now and will be staying there for a while. If your bow seems too hard to pull, back it down until you are comfortable. Better to be accurate than over bowed. ;-)
@LeadSled11999 Are you shitting me? 30 lbs in second grade. Body builder right there, I shoot a 40lb recurve and I have a hell of a time. Whats the poundage when you have it all the way back though?
@Darkcut12345 yes but there is a very big difference between target archery and hunting. im 15 and my target bow is only 45 pounds ( because i shoot around 150 at archery), my hunting bow is 63 pounds and like you i will never miss the heart too, but i can not do that all day, so don't belittle people to make yourself fill good because im sure i can shoot better then you with a bow set to 30 pounds.
Excellent shooting. Look forward to video of that first buck.

It is a 40 pound peak bow, about 280 from your archery shop. He recently upgraded to a Hoyt Kobalt. I should have some video with that bow coming up.
