Ever wonder what if Hitler & his regime had overthrown the world? He almost succeeded. A new version of Nazism is at work, we've been fighting it for 25 years. The Machine, sets the scene of a cold controlled darkness, this writer is so intelligent, he included an air-raid siren it's riveting. Pity taken 40 years for some to get the meaning. This genius was born of Hitlers' ice cold endgame. Hitler held the world in an icy cold grip, the world feared the prospects of failure to eradicate Nazism.

if you had the choice would you see the machine performing symphonic pink floyd or aussie pink floyd in quadrophonic surround sound with 3d visuals? I'm trying to decide which to see for my dad's birthday.
I agree with some of the comments that there is only one Floyd and that any other arrangements could be perceived a dismal attempt, but this was done with taste, in my opinion. Great job.
i frankly don't like this version at all...any attempt to re arrange this song is superfluous...water's late "in the flesh" version too..the force of this song is the incredible original arrangement and its masterful balance between reversed tapes, synth, VCS 3 voice, tympani and, of course, acoustic guitar...
not bad- remember PF has about 10 band members and 3 back up singers. this song really requires 2 keyboards and 2 guitars to get the depth- a 12 string acoustic up front..and probably 2 kurzweil -one strings and the other mini moog with heavy pitch bend..
these guys did a very credible job with 4 players.
I've seen the real PF including 1 of 12 US Wall Shows and other Tours, also Roger solo...It was/is my VERY good fortune to live near a venue/area they play frequently...just take my word for it Go see them, close your eyes and listen to something YOU or I thought we'd ever hear again...
Good cover but its missing somethig. I think they should put the electrics away for this song and use the 12 string acoustic, the acoustic and keyboards really make this song what it is.
You've got the idea, we need to dig deep, think long & hard before we scatter away a talent. I was born in 57, just old enough to remember hearing of all the nastiness of WWII, Hitler and Nazism. I had nightmares of being drug out into the street, chased and shot by ice-cold Nazi storm troopers. All the torment & torture that was exacted upon people just because of their family pedigree. It's no different than what has happened in the last 25 years, same cost & goal just a different name.
weirdal1605: He's not saying he likes a cover more than the original. He's saying he likes a cover more than a cover. He's referring to the live version produced by Roger Waters in 2000 in which Roger Waters sings it in his creaky-cracky voice. Gilmour was the original singer, not Waters. I agree this is better than Waters' live version. This is very nice!
Greatest cover I've ever seen. In my life. Especially considering how difficult it must be to replicate one of the most haunting, bonechilling masterpieces ever written. Well done!
It never ceases to amaze me that the general bloody public can say things like "this is crap" etc. The ignorance of people! these boys have put alot of blood sweat and tears into the show. Anyone who has been on the other side of the coin knows this. Perhaps some of the people involved in the negative comments might like to try and recreate this themselves and see how they get on!
I HAVE heard that the Pink Floyd Experience from New Zealand is very good (NOT the PFX from CA/Canada though), and I'd go see them if I ever got the chance. Now, have YOU ever seen The Machine live? I'm guessing not, otherwise you'd love them too... I mean there's a REASON they've flourished for almost 20 years now! And you could've stated your preference without all the rudeness... or wait, I'm sorry, maybe you couldn't.
Sorry about your problems, but I don't have time or interest in this kind of bullshit. I've said my opinion and thoughts about all this. the original Pink floyd (all members in it) rocked..

Hey Todd You are awesome. My family and I have been going to see the Machine for years. I have had the pleasure of even seeing you guys in San Diego, CA back in 2002. I always love the performances. Tell Joe, Nail, and Ryan hello! I gave Joe a Nimitz t-shirt back in like 2003-4 (I know his bro was on the ship, so was I) Anyway, I can't wait to see you guys again. I'd love to see your Beatle Jams too!! Take care!! The Machine ROCKS!!
Hey Giggles, just to update you... after 10 years of wonderful service Neil left the band in Sept 06 to pursue his own Nail music... I happened to catch his last show. But have no fears, Scott Chasolen is incredible on keys... I've seen 4 shows with him so far... still the best Floyd tribute anywhere!
Yeah I have seen Neil in lots of shows. I've chatted with him lots. He left before in the 90s too, and the band had split a couple of times (to pursue Joe/Todd's jazz band, etc) But, we just can't get enough of them, and they always come back :)
I think The Machine did an awesome job on this song, and I for one like the drums. I recently heard them do this song accoustically... very different sounding, but it worked. Anything these guys do is amazing really! Go check them out for yourself!
Todd, pay no mind to the comments about the drums. I like it this way. Keeps it more interesting then the original. And dude, you can out-drum Nick Mason anyday.
It's always good to hear someone do this song- and you guys did a great job! My only, ever-so-slight bit of a negative thought- the drums. The guys a good drummer- it's just personal; I prefer the song without them in THIS way- but other than that, you out did yourselves- truly great!!
hey bro. all good.. to each is own.. we added the drums for the dramatic effect is has on the song. Since we're a live band we need to keep our audience grooving with us.. The song plods along without the beat. Thanks for your comments. take care. T.M.
