Not to say that there isn't a shit ton of plastic in the ocean and whatnot, but isn't most of that plastic sinking, meaning that it wasn't taken as a sample from a water 500 miles off shore? Correct me if I'm wrong.
yh , thats great and all , but they dont say what area of the ocean they took it from , im sure if i searched the whole ocean within 1500 miles from land i would find some rubbish , its stupid not saying how big an area you surveyed , it should be shown as density , as that would give a better picture of the true situation
Seabirds and their chicks dying due to plastic junk is abother aspect of this nightmare...they're filling up on bits of indigestable pellets thinking it's food until they starve to death because they can't eliminate or break down the plastics.
I'm so glad some people are finally bringing this to greater attention.
Where is our oil going? Into trashing the water and land we rely on, not just powering cars.
Plastic bags can be turned into rope.Spread the word.

usemyillusion9,
Just do a little research. the ocean has more trash in it than we think. Ocean currents gather it together in certain spots.
