We had a group that came to our church to give a speech a few years ago. Very enlighting, these people are intelligent and very devout to god alot of them do charity work. I visited the shrine to St Josemaria in Spain with my family about 5yrs ago very beautiful and peaceful. All the negitive comments are just people who want to believe the worse in people doing good. I am proud to be a catholic.
@therealopusdei So there are no weekly "evenings of recollection" at Opus Dei study centers in larger cities, and monthly meetings in smaller ones? Thank you for demonstrating Opus Dei secretiveness... but you'd probably say "I didn't know that's what you meant"
Opus Dei is the polar opposite of the Missionaries of Charity, seeking out the richest of the rich (or those with potential to become so). It seeks "stars" of society like a Catholic version of Scientology.
@jzcp99 Opus Dei.. They dont seek out the rich ,The rich seem to go to them which is refreshing and just my be the testimony in it self considering the way the rich seem to be
Even though they have no big "secrets", Opus Dei is still secretive. Just try asking one of their centers about Opus Dei, group meetings, etc. and you'll get the "why do you want to know" attitude. Ask an Opus Dei website about the group and they won't respond.
@jzcp99 It's a small organization in the USA with less than 5,000 members so there are not a lot of meeting when compared to Knight of Columbus for example.
@jzcp99 Actually that is exactly the way I came into contact with the work and now I hope to become a cooperator. Once I found out there was an organization founded by the author of The Way I used the contact us link on the site and called the closest center. On my first retreat they told me he wrote many other books, I felt like Columbus, and now I go every year!
What is the background on this video? Is it for Opus Dei recruitment? Is it intended to recruit other young people into Opus Dei? I mean--here you have a good-looking, intelligent, well spoken young man that is obviously going to impress other young people.
I went a lot to a center of Opus Dei in my city, and went with them to retreats and "convivialities" and even to a visit to Rome in 1979. Of course it is secretive and fanatic. I have to account for a miracle in relation to Opus Dei: I knew them a lot, but I didn´t lose my faith in God, and remained a catholic, although a very lapsed & skeptical one. But I could recuperate or regain the little faith I had before knowing Opus Dei, the faith they didn't destroy with their bad example.
Why are Catholics relieved that Jesus was crucified instead of stoned to death? Because instead of crossing themselves, they would have had to pummel themselves, LOL! :P
Keefe is not an "art historian" who decided to be a numerary. He had many years of contact with Opus Dei through his parents and other family members; while getting an undergraduate degree in art history he became a numerary.
That is an very structured daily routine, personally I would struggle with that. I would really like to know what this man studied at university? I think he said 'writing projects' and working at a studio?
I'm Tradtional Latin Rigth Catholic, how attend Latin Mass every Sunday in Chicago, I almost joined Opus Dei thank God I did not, The Man how started Opus Dei is bad God. Let not forget Christ was not Secrative
Opus Dei isn't secretive or evil. I see a lot of paranoia and hatred about the Catholic Church by Hollywood and others. Holiness and a strong moral code are hated by the world today.
Yep, Zionist Hollywood and media has created what can only be described as "Christiophobia", an irrational hate of what one usually doesn't even understand. It isn't just some chaotic phenomenon, it is deliberately planned in that we are being led to hold one's self as the greatest manifestation of their reality. This is what consumerist affluenza has done. Now a more disturbing subversion is apparent: the State as omnipotent. Even basic morals are being spat upon in the mass orgy of greed..
Opus Dei apparently views Jesus' seeking out the poor and oppressed as a big mistake, which they try to correct by only being interested in rich and arrogant "Pharisees". Opus Dei should start an ad campaign for new members: "Got Money?"
please, stay away from the opus dei, it's totally evil, finance collusions and power.
it's all about that, the more people they get it the more powerful they are. it's like any other secret society (freemasons, bilderberg, illuminati, bohemian club and so on) just it is from the vatican. their founder also supported fascism in Spain.
despite all the hype, opus dei is just a small organization within the church that helps lay people find holiness. it's not secretive -- just small -- thus many catholics have little interaction. it's silly to see it being compared to these other groups.
i´m from spain..i´m totally agree Skaffbear . be carefull.... this societ was born here and has more power that we can imagine....in 60 years more or less they have finished for over th world.... the power in general is very dangerous for people who want his own prosperity......saludos desde españa...
I would like to take this oppurtunity to commend this man's faith and devotion to God. I think that giving one's life at such a young age is admirable in a society that promotes selfish pleasures. I myself am training for the priesthood and I am only 18 - I hope a new generation of young people will respond to the call of God and give of themselves in a generous and unselfish way.
I think he has a brainwash. Everyone can make a selfdiscipline. I am not a memeber of any order and i am doing the same to reach my goals. Every order is trying to managed the rest of us!!!!!!!!!Take care! This is very important for our future....

@jzcp99 I would say that each group has a place in the church -- some help the poor and some provide doctrine to lay people (OD does the latter).
