Let's remember that it wasn't ALL the English doing this shit, or even a majority. It was the English ruling class. The average joe Englishman was busy doing the same as the average Scotsman or the average Welshman - trying to survive scraping a living from his meagre bit of land.
I went to Wales once. There is nothing but a mountain and some sheep. The people are all short, dark-haired and dark-eyed. They talk of nothing but rugby and think they are special. They sing constantly and think Max Boyce is funny. No-one speaks English and they sneer if you can't speak Welsh. It rains non-stop and is freezing cold. They claim to have invented Guinness and say that St Patrick was Welsh. I am never going back.
Edward I, and those that followed, marginalized the Scot's heritage, and the Welsh history, it nearly did in the Irish, but not completely, and not without severe consequences.
@jggrow The English couldn't conquer the Scots, they failed just as the Romans did before them, they only had 18 years of occupation in the south of Scotland from 1296~1314 until the English were driven back out of Scotland from the result of the 'Battle of Bannockburn 1314', a battle so severe to the English that it lost them the first war and took England over 20 years to recover from.
Wales was the only nation that England successively conquered and incorporated as a part of England.
Edward wasn't Norman he was Plantagenet and he wasn't the first of them to see himself as English just the first to speek English as a first language.
what a load of rubbish it took the invading normans not english 300 years to try and conquer wales trying to stamp out the true language and people of britain even the romans said the only way to conquer wales would be to exterminate the whole country and repopulate it with romano britans so effective was the invasion of wales by the normans that even today we still retain our own language unlike england and we still invade england and drink thier beer and fuck thier woman.

how do you do that exactly? I see no welsh armies...oh wait, did we invade you first? oh boo-hoo. You shouldn't have been so weak.

@WolfytheWolf5667 dont you know about the wars (plural) of welsh resistance?
and you do that in our age (own two feet) through politics, which has begun, personally im welsh, and im uncertain about union or independence.
you didn't do anything did you? you're on youtube, you brave warrior!
and its this kind of misplaced arrogance that gets support for organisations like the IRA.....
