  • Okay, Stanley, now you can come back, you bastard, I don't have what to watch anymore, I've seen all of your movies. :(

  • This film sucks. But it was a learning experience for Kubrick and boy, did he learn.

  • every director needs to start...ithis movie is good but it would have been better if it better silent

  • I consider the killing his first real film, and his first masterpiece. With no live sound, this and killer's kiss can't really be considered legit.Because of the dubbing, the acting looks ridiculous.

  • Amazing to see this here...and a little depressing since Kubrick wouldn't want it here to subvert his name and rep. But I must say I smiled when his name appeared as director and the music went all fanfare. When you get to 2001, it's the same thing, Kubrick's name gets the high point in the music. What a dude he was! :)

  • I have this print, but also one from another source that is far worse quality. It runs for 72 minutes, the length of the actual movie.

  • I can see why Kubrick doesn't like this film, it's AWFUL compared to something like 2001, but still, it's a good starting point, and with that, it's worth a watch to see into the mind of the master before he became the master.

Also, to anyone who mentions Tarantino, he sucks. He seems to talk trash on Kubrick a lot, and yet is constantly inspired by him.

  • quentin tarantino must like kubrick...the title for this movie was used in genius way in the script for true romance

  • Thank you for posting this! I've only waited some 40 years to see it (but thankfully my expectations weren't high).

  • Youtube, you win again! Can the lost 4 minutes of The Shining be far behind?

  • @junedeon I doubt that. The only evidence of that seems to be still photos.

  • I think it would be wonderful if you would share the entire movie via torrent (if possible with subs as a separate file).

  • this feels like an ed wood movie. and it's by kubrick!

  • I can't tell you how absolutely happy I am. You are the greatest to have found and uploaded this! I have recently developed a love for Stanley Kubrick, and when I heard this film was generally unavailable to the public, there was a certain seductiveness to obtain or watch a copy. This completes that; amazing...

  • The man was a frickin genius. I have been hooked on his films for over 20 years now. I think all great geniuses have to make a mistake to then see their weaknesses. This was Stanley's mistake. And he learned by it I'm sure. My favorite film of his is 'The Shining', this movie rocked my world. He was a jerk when directing, but I guess a genius at work can be forgiven for that.

  • considering he'd never properly directed actors before, created/shot/edited a drama before (as far as we know) and all that, i think this is pretty damn amazing, and when he was done he got it bought by a distributor and released in some cinemas, i think it's a job well done

  • thanks for the upload...i've always wanted to see this film. this proves that kubrick was once human like the rest of us and eventually developed into a master filmmaker. even the great ones have to start from the beginning/bottom, they never gave up and stick with their vision.

  • What's missing here? The web seems to indicate the film is 72 minutes long, but the sum of these eight parts adds up to about 61 minutes.

  • Nothing is missing, but after the end of the movie there are about 10 minutes of black screen ... I simply cut.

  • @Mgjfkjgkd

    Good Move.

  • @Mgjfkjgkd how did you get this movie?

  • Is that Ed Wood narrating this?

I kid Stanley Kubrick, of course. He really didn't have to sweep this under the rug. He proved his worth as the world's greatest director 10000 fold after making this stinker, I don't think anyone would question that.

  • I'm sure some people still have an original copy of this movie (Through keeping it private), but its certainly a rarity.

  • After Flight of the Padre, the Seafarers, etc. This is Stanley Kubrick's first full length film. His least famous, with the least Hollywood connections, etc.

  • And so begins the career of the Greatest Filmaker of ALL-TIME, we'll never forget you Stanley. RIP

  • Kodak Archives strikes again!

  • wtf?! how did you get this?! and thank you for uploading it! :D

  • Kubrick hunted down every last copy of Fear and Desire and destroyed them, however it seems he wasn't 100% successful in finding ALL the copies!

  • The production company had a copy for thair arkives. I Legaly could not destroy that one. Since he signed a contract.
