I own 5 BMWs all with almost or over 100k miles. None have had major repairs or any maintenance issues that are absurd. Show me any corvette or mustang or camaro or thunderbird or any other production ford/chevy.chrysler that will take you over 100k without needing costly repairs. To replace a water pump on most American cars it will cost almost 1000. BMWs cost just under 200 dollars.
...Wow, you must have owned some terrible cars. I have my '96 Riviera with over 150k miles and OMG, you know what the most EXPENSIVE repair was? Power steering pump that went bad like 2k miles ago and it was the ORIGINAL OEM from '96...$275. I'm all for Euro cars but get your facts together...had plenty of cars that ran great well over 100k. A Corvette will run beautifully over 100k without any repairs, you just have to not be an idiot and do regular maintenance...sheesh, that's not too hard.
corvettes aint too bad, the new ones especially, one of the first american cars that do handle well. wouldnt have much on any euro/japanese car on a track though. fast as hell in a straight line
Good idea to compare a Riviera which seems to be a normal us limousine, big engine, low hp, big thirst and bad handling with a >500hp m5 witch is a technical masterpiece. There isn't any relation between these cars, the parts of the emmy are much more stressed due the much higher amount of power everyday. Its just no comparsion. Btw the z06 is build as a supercar, the emmy is a sedan. And if you really thing that it wont, thave any bigger repairs till 100k miles youre just dreaming, sorry.
Everyone knows labor costs more than parts. Have you ever worked on a bmw? Those cars are engineered for the technician. American cars are so poorly designed they make changing an oil filter a difficulty.

I friend of my dad had a Volvo V70 with 470.000 km (he is a taxi driver) and the only thing it changed was the clutch. A BMW can do more than 200.000 km with no prob.
