Rex: As long as the person is following the law about where it's currently legally permissible to open carry, the only thing that LE can legally do is inspect the firearm for whether it's unloaded or not. California residents that open carry also have to be aware local laws and whether or not those laws have been preempted by state law.

Lloyd LaCuesta - you're wrong. The firearm at the Obama rally was NOT an NFA-regulated "automatic" rifle. It was a SEMI-automatic (one round fired per pull of the trigger) AR-15. Try to get it right.
