Evo is a much better car and it's pretty cheap to tune. Someone in an earlier comment said it costs about $2700 to get 400+ hp out of it and the stock brakes suspension and transmition all deal with all that added power fine

The Impreza boxer engine is notorious for uneven oil distribution to either cylinder head, they are also weaker than both the 4G63/4B11 and the hp/cost ratio is terrible. Evo's can get 400hp for about £2k, STI's double that amount easily.

Anyway, why bring up max horsepower on stock internals? You're setting yourself up like a fool. A quick search reveals stock WRX's max out around 350whp and STI's top out at 400whp internally (v7). The Spec-C making 600+bhp appears to be a rumour, with no sources to back it up.

Evo 9 4G63's can reach 500+whp easily. One guy's is 550whp @ 36psi daily, and 563whp @ 40psi on the track.

Thats with a completely stock block, stock head, and stock ECU. Its the fastest stock block Evo with a 10.3 @ 132mph pass. No Subaru has gone anywhere near that with stock internals.

2:EJ257 weaker than 4G63? They are both even in what they can handle for stock power. EJ257 can handle 450hp just like a 4G63 can.

3:Sorry to disappoint but Subarus & Evos both cost money to modify. Both aren't any cheaper than the other. They are both rivals but the faster car doesn't determine which car is actually better.

I used to have an '04 Subaru Impreza WRX STi. I'm currently owning a '09 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X. Any Evo or STi owner worth his rear wing & did his good homework knows these two cars are nearly identical in all specs. Differences are in engine displacement and launching.

Evo VIII, IX and X have officially been slightly better, for fractions, than STi's so far.

I got a USDM MY04 STi with zero problems on my transmission which 85,000 miles on it. I hear as much problems with 6 speed transmissions that the MR has. It's basically the driver's fault that transmissions fail, not the car. So please stop being a fan boy.
