@cislander44 Sort of; it's a capital gains tax that's applied on profits over $250,000 per individual or $500,000 for couples who own a residential property and the tax is 3.8%. That said, I have read the portion of the bill that deals with the "death panels". It is a bit nebulous, leaving it open for "interpretation". I will try to find it, again and post it for you all. There are many other non-health care related things in this rotten piece of legislation.

@TrampledRights - Section 1233 last I heard. It's actually an option provided by Medicare stating the government will pay once every year for a doctor to counsel his patient on end of life care. This includes concepts such as power of attorney, living wills, treatment options in case of terminal illnes, etc. The government wants to encourage this conversation and is willing to pay for one conversation every year. (Once a year, like they do for screening mammograms) It's not mandated.

I'm already see effects of new bureaucracy delaying a new wheelchair cushion and Tegaderm foam bandages for a pressure sore. I'm a paraplegic that worked over 20 years in healthcare for federal VAMC, private HMO and State, all in procurement for pharmaceutical, hospital & medical supplies. The more systems, the longer it takes to get treatment & more expensive it gets.

No one should have a say in what care an individual gets aside from the patient and the doctor treating them. The FDA's revoking approval for Avastin has nothing to do with the Affordable Health Care Act. You people are loons. The FDA fast-tracked approval for Avastin for breast cancer, due to public pressure. Post-marketing studies proved that its risks to breast cancer patients outweighed its benefits. If anything, this whole debacle argues against fast-track approvals. Pretty much any woman who takes Avastin for breast cancer is terminal anyway... this whole death panel bullshit is ridiculous.
