I am a marathon runner, and I think I will buy Asics instead of my favorite brand, Nike. I too get saddened when I see the living conditions that these people live through that manufacture most sneakers.
I do triathlons and asics I can firmly say are the favorite among the people I train with actually a Japanese company that introduced their product to the U.S. in 1977

Image branding is more important than the apparently mundane activity of actually manufacturing the product.
