Just finished packing and off to Austria this afternoon, time to run through your tutorials. My pal and I are both ex instructors from the early seventies (in fact he has kept up his licence) and it's good to be able to check out the latest techniques and just to remind oneself how it's done. Lots of common-sense and no bluster. good solid info. Thanks.
hahahha. i tell my causin this every time we ski! i love your videos they are helping me alot! but i want to know where is the place you ski at? thanks!
Good advice. It's similar to something my personal trainer taught me about fitness...when you're just walking around or standing, don't just let the stomach hang out, pull everything in, tighten the core. It's awkward at first, because we are naturally inclined to be lazy, but after re-training, the new habit becomes second nature...and your back and body will thank you. Same with skiing. Train until the new habbit is secod nature.
@spiff8082ms Wise words indeed I often tell my clients the weeks leading up to their holiday to make more effort to walk up the stairs in stead of using escalators. Lots of small things can make a big difference.
@huhhman Sorry you think that, it's not tall the object the more fun you can have the better you will ski, the idea is to stop bad habits creeping in.
@elatemedia If you feel confortable, I don't see why you should not ski the way you want. I hate when people think their way is the best way. You are making videos of how to ski for people sitting behind their laptops. You really think this is how they'll learn?
@se777777777777en It was filmed in Tignes, a ski resort in France last December, they've got even more snow this year after a slow start to the season.
@elatemedia - BEST skiing vids on YouTube. It would be cool to see a "how to ski switch/backwards" tutorial. I'm not a freeskier but I feel this is a weakness in my current skill set and there are moments, especially when using button lifts (and some crazy falls off in front) or moving around at low speed where this would be useful.
You cant look steezy if you try... but in reality, i think its perfectly fine to relax on a green slope, when I know its go time, i get in and stay in the proper position
@lifeshort Glad you like them lifeshort. Lots more coming over the next few weeks, and do check out our apps if you have an iOS device or Nokia smartphone.
@elatemedia Brilliant idea! I'll check those out 'cos we've been trying to 'cram' all the videos before we go away. I've got an iPod touch so we'll take them with us. Thanks again
@lifeshort No worries lifeshort. Hope you enjoy the apps and that you have a great ski holiday. Do tell us what you think of the Ski School Apps and if you have any feature requests or suggestions for additional content just drop us an email (you can email from inside the apps).
@lesiu57 Thanks lesiu, glad you are enjoying them, you're right, there are more coming, and all in glorious 1080pHD. (Though don't forget to check out our apps for iOS, Symbian and Windows Phone 7 they are a lot more than just video lessons!)

Yet another Vid from this guy that is Spot on... Listen to this guy "dont get lazy"... This is sound advice.... Use the lower 'easier' runs to practice and perfect your skiing....great stuff.
@colinpokey9 Thanks for posting colinpokey9. We had a think about this last year and from January 2011 all video we have shot is with helmets - though there will still be some video we'll be uploading from archives without.
We believe that wearing helmets (for adults at least) is advisable but should be a matter of informed choice.
@fr3agnt Thanks fr3agnt, btw if you have an iPhone check out our Ski School Advanced app - we've just updated it with video analysis - you can now film yourself (or get your friend to film you) and compare your skiing frame by frame with Darren's demos (or your friends, or your instructor). If you've already got the app it's a free update!
Its obvious but i have never really thought about this before, on the easy slopes you just tend to ski down forgetting pole plants, posture and technique.. thanks for the warning!

Great tip! I often make this mistake and get lazy after skiing a run!
milkphish2 2 months ago
@milkphish2 Easily done but avoid getting lazy and it will stop those bad habits creeping in. Have a good season.

useful and reconizable but the only long term solution is to search for more challenging slopes. Useful video though
