  • The lyrics are not "meaningless, senseless... propagated by the Americans." If you read between the lines, these seemingly bizaare phrases in fact describe the tortures ("nagsayaw ang pilay, kumanta ang pipi...") and other abuses (isang hayop ang pinatay, napakaraming langis ang piniga...) perpetrated by the Americans then. It was precisely a song of protest in coded form.

  • Wala pa 'yang lyrics, kakaiyak nang pakinggan. Waaaa. :'( Ang ganda ang ganda ang gandaaaaa!

  • like. it's what i need.

-kakaiyak basahin yung lyrics

  • im confused. was this song supposed to have lyrics? where are the original lyrics?

  • @Joverrated: The original lyrics is in the "description". Kindly read the description of each song before posting comments and if you want a detailed reply please send a private message instead.

  • Very interesting history. I have a new version of this song, probably interpreted by the Madrigal Singers...I was confused the senseless words and the title, "Kundiman ng 1800". Now I know why.

  • @John081590: I just hate the Madrigal's interpretation of this song (using the senseless lyrics propagated by the Americans thru the University of the Philippines). I don't know, perhaps Madz just want to be funny but its too "corny".

  • @philclassic I actually thought that the kundiman was supposed to be a comical one until i heard this version. Thanks for uploading this :)

  • @John081590: Yes, the Americans were very successful in suppressing Filipino nationalism during their colonial rule, our Philippine National Hero was chosen by the Americans because he is "educated" and appears to be a Pacifist or anti-revolutionist (unlike the "uneducated" and rebellious Bonifacio).. ooops politika na ito :)

  • Salamat! I never knew this version existed until now! thanks a million! I just wish more Filipinos would discover this. truly, this is a wealth you have shared with us and the future generations.

At mabuhay tayong lahat.

  • i like the portrait where do you get your art?

  • @Odeliza I got it from online auction sites
