  • Dude - I really appreciate your series and I thank you for posting your videos...being a DJ myself, I find myself schooling these young cats out here on where these samples used in today's hip-hop tracks come from, and I've learned quit a bit myself from watching your videos. Even teachers have teachers, and I've come to accept you as mine - real type. Keep up the excellent work!

Was also used by crucial conflict on the song ''Lil advice'' from Final tic.

Just wanted to let you know, in case you wanted to add it

  • zapped

  • Why can't people understand that rap music is made from samples. It's the genius of combining beats and scratches and hooks to create a new feel to the old records. Peep Stestasonic's song " Talkin All that Jazz" it explains it all. No disrespect for people making new beats, but notice all hip hop classics have sampled songs in them...

  • man,that are 10 great tracks.

  • People don't realize how good the Rocky soundtrack really was. It was one of the best soundtracks ever!

  • you do hear a song titled "Pretty baby" by Blondie. its the part where Virginia ( the fake Blondie) is driving heading to go meet the Union. its the song you hear her playing in her car.

  • @Miltonnewyork

that song is not on the wildstyle soundtrack...

remember blondie is the group, deborah is the singer.

  • Y'all is str8 ill when y'all wanna be, but another volume of good ish as always

  • lol @ the ending. good shit.

  • i might be wrong, but Debbie Harry ( Blondie) in not in wild style, i think you hear her music in the movie, but i think she is not in the movie.

  • you're right, the music is by Chris stein (member of blondie)..the actress was Patti Astor (blondie look-a-like)..

Debbie Harrie didn't sing/rap in wild style.

  • he didn't say she's in the movie but listed her as one of the Producers for the movie.

  • ah ok, i must read and understood wrong, sorry

  • @mike7743

blondie is the group, deborah harry is the singer. Chris stein the musician, charlie ahearn the producer

a bit silly ain't it to think a female singer produced a whole hiphop reord.

  • yeah I know, I was just referring to her not being in the movie.

  • I did a video about the anatomy of "on the wheels of steel" and it got deleted by youtube, with all the samples used on grandmasters flash classic tune

the youtube where she sings the part from beastie boys "hold it now" is burned into my mind.

Yo, Leroy!!!!! is my drunk, is my, Hold it now, It's my rhyme.

  • Bust off on your couch, now you got Seaman's Furniture....

  • Accidentally purchased both the Ronnie Foster and Vijay Iyer Trio renditions of 'Mystic Brew'.

To anyone with critical listening skills and a buck to spare: could you explain what is going on in the Vijay Iyer version of the song?

I honestly restarted iTunes midway through my first listen.

The VIT rendition is the antithesis of 'Electric Relaxation'; more an agitating poly-phasic nightmare. But somehow I can't stop listening to it...

  • Another semester of Funktual 101 has commenced.
