@mrs9thwonder naw, its actually really simple you just gotta practice with it, when i first got it, i thought it was pretty limited but there is a lot of videos on youtube and sites like warbeats dot com that explain all the functions, and now it is really endless theres so much you can do!

@mrs9thwonder - fl studio is probably the easiest daw to use. even with that there is a lot to learn but it becomes a walk in the park when you familiarize yourself with it. pretty much the same with anything you want to be good at, you gotta work at it. there are almost infinite amounts of fl tutorials on here as well which really helps. the warbeats guy does some great ones if your patient. get a bar of drums working on the step sequencer, cut out a 4 bar or less loop with edision, (cont)

@mrs9thwonder - (cont) doesnt have to be a loop but it helps. throw that onto slicex with slicex set to sustain(r arrow on top) if you want to tap the pads and not hold them. set the cut 2 all regions(slices) to 1 and play around with the chops. play them in order or however you want. you can record or just click them in with a mouse. i usually start with 1 bar of drums and a 4 bar chopped sample pattern(3 bars same or almost with 4th diff, 2 and 2, or full 4. build upon that and build up drums

@mrs9thwonder - its pretty crazy what that simple bar of drums and 4 bars of chops can be turned into by the time your done. those are just some of the basics to get you rolling. try chopping up samples with no drums at first, you know intros ect. just dont be intimidated by it, play around with shit and have fun and you will grasp it and learn new things all the time. oh counting bars is a good thing to know when trying to look for a sample and often you will find they are obvious if you zoom

@mrs9thwonder FL is actually a lot easier on a PC, surprisingly. And it's not complicated, it's just big ;) got a lot to it. Try Logic Pro, and just dick around er'day, and you'll whip out some dope beats before you know it. Key to a good DJ is listening to everything, get to it.
